thanks! yes, it was born a euro car so the bumpers were already 'done', but everything else was basically stock, tired e28, including the crappy sealed beams (that presumably replaced the euro lights during the federalization process) and the red federalization markers that you typically see drilled into the body panels. the euro lights, m5 chin spoiler, m-tech trunk spoiler- these are all new. think of a stock e28 (but with euro bumpers being the sole differentiator), and that was basically this car- at least visually.

the e36 is fine. the best part is that it's such a different driving experience from the e28 that i feel like there's room to enjoy both. each one is great in its own way. the e28 basically feels and drives like it's been carved out of a slab of granite, whereas the e36 is turbine smooth and clearly the athlete of the two.

one complaint: mirrors need to be body-colored. :DComment

depends on who you ask ;) in the US, body-colored mirrors first appeared in '88 -- mine is an '86. in europe (which is more appropriate for my example), they were optional equipment from as early as '85. i went back and forth on this one a little before deciding i liked the black mirrors better. i think they make the car stand out just a little bit more, even if some may argue it's not necessarily in a good way.
