So I decided to do the timing belt myself. I have been following the guide on this site and so far it's been a breeze. Here is a pic of the timing belt:
A mechanic I showed this pic to thought it looked fine, but I'm going to replace it anyway. Got the tdc lines lined up:

BTW when I got to work I found the radiator was covered with tar, plant matter, bugs that died in the eighties, etc. It is freaking amazing that this car drove for over an hour and a half from my Dad's place to mine and over some very steep hills with out overheating, not even close. I don't have a pic but here's what it looks like now. I circled the part that was covered. ;)
When I took it off it gushed tons of fluid. Some of it was even coolant! Most of it was rusty brown crud. I stuck a hose in the top and washed brown crud out for about 5 minutes. I'm going to use a good chemical flush on it, but like I said, it worked great with all the crap. It should be fantastic clean.Comment
