they aren't the original seats, no, the originals were black leather sport seats.

as far as reliability and '88s, it's mostly anecdotal evidence. I've heard of many many '88s making it way past 200k with the original trasnfercase intact, but my '91 for example went through 3 of them by 140k, and I've destroyed 3 front driveshafts in 50k.
