so i know its no e30...but i just recently picked up a 1973 Merc 220 (chassis w115). i am 2nd owner now. 86k original miles. picked her up for 1000 bucks.
it runs, it drives..just needs some TLC and some tuning up...and a whole lot of more ballerness.
and if it makes any of you feel better. i also own a 91 318is with an m50 swap.
well here it goes hope you enjoy the ride...and learn along with me, because this merc business is new territory to me..
when i picked her up:

pretty balllerrr i love this steering wheel. they just dont make them like this anymore.
took her home, washed her up, and this is the start of it..

little more rust on right side.

ok now starting to go through the whole engine first. im taking off all the emissions BC! that isnt needed anymore and robs engine power. also pulled the 325lb AC compressor bracket and AC compressor unit. dont need that shizzle. oh and you think BMWs suck...this merc has some of the worst engineering i have ever seen. this AC compressor bracket wraps around the engine and is held on by about 7 bolts. 2 of the bolts are held on by the motor mount and another 2 of them are held on at the water pump....thats right so i go and loosen everything to take off the bracket, water pump gets loose and i loose all my coolant...great......... (office space voice)
beer is a must...

look at that AC bracket hahah wow

BS emissions vacuum pump thing. GONE.

water pump. grind off old gasket, get all new fresh shizzle

BOOM

took the valve cover off. looks good for being so old!

stripping all the AC stuff. save my self like 228lbs lol

its gone.

Thats it for now. i snapped a bolt so waiting on that and more parts to come. they should be here this week. ill take pics and keep you guys updated...sorry no cool cosmetic stuff yet. just sifting through the engine and making the mechanics good first. subscribe and go on this journey with me :hitler: <german
