Wow, that's terrible! Good luck OP, and great to hear that the driver didn't hit-n-run at least.

Drunk guy HAS insurance? Wow? This really upends my belief that people who are irresponsible enough to drink and drive are irresponsible enough to not pay for insurance.

This is surely the minority of drunk drivers.

Good luck squeezing every last penny out of the insurance!

this happened in my truck if the car is paid for then ur fine they tried to give me 4500 for a truck worth 6800 plus modifications (lift bumpers wheels and tires)i got my insurance involved and threaten to sue them if they didnt replace everything so by the time it was all said and done they gave me 7800 for the truck plus a extra 2500 im assuming for having to deal with all the bs( plus i was actually in the truck and got hurt so they also paid medical bills also for pain and suffering)

basically ur in the right and had nothing to do with the accident so u should be able to get reimbursed for everything or close to it.. you hold all the cards

After you strip the parts this car deserves a viking funeral to send it to Valhalla.

                Sorry for your loss.

I hate seeing threads of e30's ruined by other peoples stupidity, you weren't even driving the car. At least if you were the one to run it into a curb or a ..... house? its your own fault, but you had no control over this!
Sucks, but hopefully you get things worked out with the insurance company!

Hey guys, Just thought you'd like an update on how the insurance thing tracked out. A couple weeks ago I got my payment of $6,240 from the insurance company. That being said I am ok with the amount but that was the most I could get out of them. (Trust me I tried everything at the end) I put roughly 8,000 into the car, That's including the price of the car... So the amount I got was good in a sense but most of the parts I put on there were less then 6 months old so a lot of recent work down the drain. I also sold some parts I took off before they took the car away adding up to 315 dollars. So I pretty much just got jipped of my time and effort which is crappy.

                    My advice for everyone:
-When working with insurance companies just keep on them.
-Be prepared before they are with receipts and craigslist ads of similar cars, and anything else that you think will help. and send that info to whoever is dealing with your claim as soon as you can.
-If you don't like there offer just say no, and give it more time. I turned down 3 of there offers and made them re-evaluate my car twice. I gave them 6,000 worth of receipts and went through all the expensive parts with them to explain what it was.
-one thing they tryed to pull on me was saying that my mileage was corrupt and something was fishy. I had to explain that all e30s have odometers that go bad. It took him a while but he finally let that one go after he did a little research himself.
-One more thing that I havent tried yet but my own insurance guy told me I can add a policy that covers all the aftermarket parts I put on my car. So when I add a part I just give them the receipt and they know a head of time I have the parts on my car for when something happens. And performance mods dont add any more to your policy, its just a flat rate.
