yeah, my experience in germany was like, they are really super serious about their cars; you basically see like, 4 colors of cars (black, red, white, gray), and like, no one drives around in a shitbox either, no dents, etc. You don't see many older cars either... they must get shipped off to eastern europe for sale.

At the corporate level, your car = your level of job... most salesmen drive a c-class or a 3er, middle mgmt has a e-class or 5er, and the M.D. has an s-class. They don't deviate from the formula.

At the time, I worked in sales in the US for a german company, and when they visited, they worried that my car (a 96 VW GTi) sent a 'bad message' to my customers... eg: why would they want to buy stuff from me if I didn't 'look' successful (driving a VW was for like, schoolteachers or something).

I guess over there they figure if your customer sees you in a new BMW or benz, you must be doing something right. what a world!

A world where surface value takes presidence!!! Sound familiar?

        BACCK ON TOPIC

Mike, your so called and affectionately reffered to "winter beater" steals my heart everytime. U.S. grills actually look better to me as well, i've always thought the same thing, kinda looks like the car is shocked. As far as the tech one front and the "is" spoiler, pimp shit.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

I guess e30's are to Germany what Escorts are to the U.S. You couldn't pay somebody to take an old Escort off your hands.
