Finally back, with a vengeance, DINAN 2.6 M3

Some may remember me, most not, but I am back. I’m waiting for my 88 M3 DINAN Stage II 2.6L to be delivered, attached are some pic’s. I have no affinity for DINAN, I bought it for the crank, condition, and price.

The car has the DINAN Stage II 2.6L (92mm crank, titanium rods, pistons, chip, EVO II cam, cam gears, K&N Intake, Header back exhaust). Also DINAN wheels ($$$$$$), DINAN suspension (don’t know what stage and don’t care), and F/R 6-1/2” MB Quart components.

I’ll be doing a VAC Motorsports Stage I head and a teardown, cleaning, and clearance check of the short block, or a new machined block if required, also lots of maintenance stuff. After that I will dyno it to see where I am at, I doubt I will get near DINAN’s claimed 292HP/267TQ (~250whp) I am guessing around 220whp if I’m lucky, regardless, next winter I will be doing Stage III head, 50mm T-bodies, DTM carbon airbox, DTM header, SS race exhaust, 292/284 cams, and standalone, maybe COP.

Welcome back to the game dude. I miss your black E30 still.

Question though, why do a Stage I head now and a in less than a year redo the head again?

Wheels look great, hard to tell from the pics if they match the car well. Look like Fikse 5 spokes. I assume the extra displacement gained from the longer stroke? Dinan's claimed 267 ft-lbs is EXTREMELY optimistic, given that the GpA cars only made about 210-220ft-lbs IIRC.

I *think* evo blocks have more meat on them and allow a little more bore. I believe 95x87 is normal for a 2.5L block. Since he says he's using 92, there must be quite a bit more bore on that block.

                  Wow, welcome back.

I'm with TJ, I still miss your black iS, but looks like you find one hell of a platform to start. Congrats.

Is that thing on jackstands in the pictures? Good way to store it: Suspension doesn't get used, tires won't get flatspots, etc..

Welcome back. Sounds like a sweet car you got there. Dyno the car when you first get it just to see where you are starting from.

Yeah, should have never sold it!

The car only has 15 valves, if you get my drift. I only want a stock rebuild, a stage 1 is $150 more than stock and you get motorsport springs and some porting, so its worth it, stage III is 3 times the price and would be way overkill right now. I can always sell the Stage I and buy a core to use for stage III.

Thats what I have been told and thats what they look like, I will probably sell them if I molest the car.

Yeah, I assumed that was DINAN BS when I first saw it, the probably use someting rediculous like 30% driveline loss, whp is all that counts.

No one knows for sure how much more meat, if any a E3 block has.

Normally people use the EVO III crank (87mm stroke) and bore to 95mm (making 2.47L), my motor has 92mm stroke and maybe 94.6mm bore (making 2.59L), but I am not sure about the bore. I have alot of research to do before rebuilding the motor.

Good to see you are still kicking around in a e30, even if it is one of those vulgar S14 powered ones
