My first BMW was a Fjord Blue/blue leather 1978 530i..Thermal Reactors and all. This was 1988.

I put some 15" BBS and some Pirelli P6's on it, along with some Bilsteins.

I also put in an Alpine 2 shaft HLTAC Head tape deck (forgot the model # but it was the one with Dolby C), 2 Yamaha 75Wx2 amplifiers, and a/d/s 300i speaker front and rear. I removed the tweeters from the front pair, ran some wire and put them in the vents. It was my first stereo install. The English Beat never sounded better.

I think (often) about how that car is probably sitting in some junkyard, with about $2K worth of vintage audio gear in it. Unfortunately, that was the only real worth of that car. Although it looked great, it was slow, auto, and guzzled gas like no other. Oh, I drilled the bumper shocks while on the car to degass them, and drove the car slowly into the garage wall to push the bumpers in..and cut some of the bellows off. Bumper tuck 1988 style! My parents garage still have the bumper rubber marks it left.

My wife (of 15 years) and I went out on dates in that thing as kids. Brings back good memories.

Well, I must be an old man.

        That's a beauty.

Awesome car! I like the e21 recaros in this car. I have a set, but I don't want to put them into either of the 02s. I can't stand them for some reason. But this car. This car is the boobs.

I actually cut up this exact car over a year ago. I'll see if I can find the video. Don't ask why.

EDIT: Here is the link for the e12 demo party. It's brutal.

I rocked a set in my 02 for a second. Still have them, but switched to these corbeaus.

I like the fit of recaros and the e30 sport seats, snugger than the couches that early comfort seats seem to be.

                Update

So my brackets for Mobile Tradition came in today. Front and rear. Blunt really came through for me on these. They are NLA in the US, but they didn't take long to show up on my doorstep.
Mounted the bumpers, but still need to order the molding clips. Plus its pretty chilly today, and its better to put these on when they are warm.
                Check it out.

Well, I put the molding on today... All thats left is the headliner, maybe lower it and then some rims. I may rock it stock for a while though.. it just looks so good!

                    Some goodies

My Free nardi. I bought it for $100 dollars with an unknown hub from a guy who thought it was a boat steering wheel. Turns out the hub was for an early model Porsche 911. Sold the hub on ebay for @ $200. PROFIT!

Thanks to all the OG's who helped out in sourcing the euro parts, the advice, and all the Blunty nice parts from the great white north!

FYI that passenger side mirror set me back more than the front shocks on this thing. A truly tough find.
                      More to come.

not sure i like the wheels honestly but everything else yes. why not a smaller diameter wheel? they look too modern.

that color is just awesome though. nice work

I think once the car is lowered this weekend it will bring the modern wheels in with the classic body, I do agree with you though...a classic mesh from HRE would be my initial pick for the year. I LOVE these wheels though...so I'm going to love it once it is finished.

we will see with the wheels. I will likely hold out for a set of mesh wheels, or Hammers.....
                              Hammers would be tight.
