Be sure to have the head tested and/or decked and don't use a victor reinz HG

        Also, new head bolts.

I'm taking it to the shop my uncle works at tomorrow morning and were going to clean it all up and make sure it's all good and then send it to go get refinished! As soon as that's done it's just reassembly and then the real fun can begin.

So on Saturday I took the head (885) that I bought from the junkyard for $60 on half off day and we tore it down and cleaned everything and sent it off to the machine shop. Everything looks good and there going to refinish all the valves and do something to the camshaft. Total will cost $150. So for $210 I will have a rebuild 885 head to put on Guinevere and she should be up and running in no time! I also scored a Getrag 260 for free but 2nd & 3rd are gone. What should I do with it? My uncle is a transmission mechanic so we'd have all the right tools to take it apart and fix it but is the price of replacing the synchros worth it compared to getting a working one? Only + to this is all the labor will be free. Can't wait to get her running!

So I am getting my e34 ready to sell. I can't afford to keep to cars and the e30 is easier to work on anyways. Looking to get $2,500for the e34. I'll post a for sale thread as soon as its ready.

So the e34 haven't sold yet but I made progress on Guinevere! I had her towed to my uncles house a few weekends ago and we just started working on her last night. We were able to remove the cylinder head and intake manifold along with some other things. All we have to do now is finish taking the timing belt off and clean up the pistons and then we'll be ready to reassemble with the refinished cylinder head! And I'm on spring break next week so hopefully we'll get it done before I go back to school and I'll be able to daily her and park the e34.

Now for some pics. I only took them after and not before. Didn't think to sorry =P

Amazing find! I thought mine was good @$500 but it is wrecked. I'd most certainly rather have some relatively minor engine issues than what I have to deal with! Subscribed!

Thanks! I sure felt lucky picking her up for only $300! I felt like I was robbing the guy but if I didn't buy it it was going to the junkyard for $350. I had to save it from that! And he had already bought an e36 lol he was older though so I doubt he'll rice it out.

We worked on her some more last night. We got everything cleaned up and ready for reassembly! She will be running by next week! I'm still looking for coupe seats and haven't found any yet. I plan on going to a few junkyards tomorrow to find some. Here's the block after we cleaned it up. ;D

Here's a picture of the old timing belt. This is the whole reason why I had to replace the cylinder head. People don't ever forget to change your timing belt! It will fuck your engine up! Half of the belt has no teeth.....

Got the head on! We got it on yesterday and all together! All we have left to do is put the timing belt on and then put the radiator in and reconnect all the hoses! I will be running by the end of this week!

                                My $300 Beater, Guinevere

Progress from last night. We got the radiator and fan in and some hoses attached. All that's left to do are the spark plugs and airbox! She'll be running tomorrow! Can't wait to drive her for the first time!
