The flocking is not that hard. Here are my tips.
    -Get a helper/time saver
-Put the dash on a clean plastic tarp so that you can collect the extra flocking that collects around the dash. That way you can reuse the extra bits.
-Have both a small foam roller and a foam brush to get into small places. The roller will help you get the big sections done before the glue start tacking up.
-Make sure glue is on evenly with no extra thick or thin spots as you will see that through the flocking. The flocking will build up on thick sections, and be to thin on areas where there is not enough glue.
-Buy the flocking applicator. It helps.

Thats about it. Its easy with two people working steady and not rushing.

so my cat back had an ANSA muffler with magnaflow tips and some shoddy homemade piping. there were dents and holes in the bottom of the piping and the muffler. i cleaned everything up and patched the holes with JB weld (because ghettofabulous), then hit the muffler with a decent coat of high temp paint. my muffler is basically falling apart inside and chunks of it fall out every time i lift it up and shake it around. hopefully it passes inspection as-is. i don't really want to spend any more money on the car for the moment. especially not on something as expensive as an exhaust. i don't know how good its going to sound as is but i honestly don't care right now. i just want to worry about finishing the interior

so i had to remount my battery box an inch further back because of cable clearance, but i ended up getting it right. over the past couple of days i have reinstalled my heater box, continued working on finishing up wiring, and i started wrapping some of my harness. i got bored and decided to hook up the ignition wiring and try to start the car. amazingly after not running in 4 months+ and me fiddling with a bunch of stuff over that time frame it ended up starting in a couple minutes. i'm having an issue right now where my charcoal canister fills with gas and starts leaking, so i'm not sure what that's all about.

                some pics:

                and a running video:

lots and lots of work done on the car today. got the trunk bolted back on, then started working on wiring. i created a rat's nest when i bundled the wiring up to paint back behind the roll bar (so all the wiring to the fuel pump/abs sensors/taillights/etc was tangled up and shitty). because of this i elected to just clip everything, adjust the length to what i wanted, then splice everything back together. worked out really well considering the mess i had before. i basically got everything hooked up short of cruise and windows. currently having issues with no wipers, but they worked before i pulled stuff apart so it's probably something simple. also have no low beams. fuses are good so i'm thinking maybe a switch or relay issue. i found a working cluster in an eta at a yard so i will be swapping my tach and code chip into that. it needs some bulbs replaced but other than that it seems to be good to go. car is still idling weird but i think i figured out my charcoal canister issue. the return line coming from the tank was attached to the canister rather than the fuel rail, and i think that meant that whenever the tank was filled over the return line bung the fuel would seep into the canister. i'm hoping that was the issue because fuel lines are a pain in the ass and messy so i don't want to mess with them anymore. anyway, picture time:

under dash area. a bit ratty but way less cluttered than before.

rear harness. this is where i had to clip and untangle everything then splice it all back together.

So, do you still have the fuel gauge from your old cluster? Want to sell it?

Rad, thorough build dude. Keep it up.

Are you in the Utah BMW Enthusiast (I'm not) or Utah Association of Euros (I am) groups on Facebook? Typically lots of stuff going on around and with this thing you'd be a star. That UAoE group has a weekly meet down at In and Out in Orem, every Wed at 7pm. Whether or not you have anything else euro, or when this is finished, get out there! I'm not one to get out much and bullshit with others, but the majority of them are good dudes and can talk you up. Hope to see you (and I saw another SLC dude post here) around!
