Missed this thread, I'm glad we got your car running perfect, Bobby. It was fun to dyno something other than an LS1 car for a change!!

RCWells - with those dyno numbers you really keep up with the M3's? I'm not trying to flame or bash, just curious. Do those M3s have stock motors? I don't see how that's possible, but that's just me and I only really drive my m3 (a few motor mods).
Love the pics, I wish there was a euro scene like that around here where I live. Mostly its BMW guys that are into rice-style upgrades. I like 'em euro style, that's what I got. love your car too, it's super clean, I hope my brilliantrot 318is looks that good when I clean it up.

Even taking a stock 325is vs. a stock M3, the differences in acceleration are not that far off. The published BMW acceleration figures have the M3 faster to 60MPH by only a tenth or so of a second. Where an M3 starts to pull away is at higher speeds, say starting around third gear on up.
Before Bobby had the AFPR installed and tuned, I ran him in my car a few times. My M3 has 143K miles with the only modifications being a Dinan chip, Dinan cam gear, and Supersprint center section. Thru most of first and second gear we were both pretty close, with me starting to gain an edge by the end of second gear. By the end of third gear I was ahead by around a car length. I would imagine that I would have steadily increased my lead if we had kept on going, but not by a huge amount-MAYBE another car length.
Bobby has also done some acceleration runs with another board member, Alecs Macdonald. He has a '88 M3 with 85k, but with only 6k miles on a fully rebuilt stock motor-only mods being a chip, VSR center section with Stromung exhaust, and a lightweight flywheel. The results were pretty much the same.Eric Giles

Well, actually, I wasn't really even referring to straight line accelaration, though they are very close, but rather combined performance attributes. In the handling department, my car is set up very well, and when you factor in driver ability and "balls", well, I can keep up and even surpass in many instances other cars, including the venerable E30 M3. One thing that my car IS deficient in is the brake setup. I'm not sure exactly why yet, but I will eventually get that sorted out too.
I have to admit, my respect for the M3 has grown over time, and eventually, it's quite possible I may own one myself, though it would not remain stock.
