    My E30 Project 335i

    Hi guys,

New to this forum, I'm from Sydney Australia and wanted to share my life savings from the last 5 years with you.

It's an M30B35 powered E30, what was originally a 325e. 5 years or so of building it and sorting all the teething problems, I know it's a common conversion (especially overseas), it's definitely not something you haven't seen before but she runs goes good and I guess that's what matters.

Recently I've just had it on the dyno (motor and everything is bone stock) and only got 82rwkw or 111rwhp. The graph was all over the place, there was a big missfire that was killing its power output none the less I was extremely disappointed. I replaced the distributor cap, plugs, and rotor button. I can feel the difference so hopefully once back on the dyno I will see a much better result. I've read a few threads that say that the M30B35 should have 125rwkw, though who knows, it's the torque that gives my car its up and go.

The plans are now to clear that up and keep it a strong N/A motor, ITB's, cam, maf and a motec computer. Though putting ITB's on an M30 here in Australia isn't an easy task, sourcing OEM parts is hard enough as it is. After endless amounts of research (mostly on r3vlimited) I found that a member here "Madhatter" has the ITB manifold that bolts directly onto the M30 block http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=119482 as his comment on this thread here says. I private messaged him a few days ago, though he hasn't replied. If anyone knows another way to get onto him, I'd love to know as I am very interested if he still has them.

its cosmoblau :) thanks heaps fellas, appreciate it. The aim was to keep it as genuine as possible, that freakin orange cooling duct for the alternator is an eye sore, but its only temporary.

Saw this one for sale a while back... guess you were the buyer. Good stuff - your car should have way more than 82rwkW (that's stock M42 output! Mine has 124 with a stock M30B35).

For the alternator snorkel, just grab one from a wrecked e32 or e34 - they fit straight up to the stock e30 inlet.

With ITBs the brake booster is going to be a pain! If you're after more grunt, a decent set of headers / exhaust, cam, MAF & a chip is going to make a big difference.

A mate of mine made 136rwkW with just a Mark D chip vs. my stock set up, although he had to run 98 octane fuel, while I can run 91.

Good luck. Looks great & will be a lot of fun.

I hope you've gotten all the running issues sorted out and make some real power. I'm rebuilding my 535's b35 at the moment, got all the love for M10 or M30 motors. :D

I like the tach setup... you crazy ozzies!
