    Lowered the 85 318i

I finished lowering my 85 318i today. I got some Spax 60mm drop springs for realy cheap so tossed them on. The car looks way better and handles better. So far the springs and adding a rear sway bar have been the only suspension mods done to the car. I don't drive it much as the 88 325is is my daily driver. But I'll be buying some cabrio sway bars for the Is soon so the Larger Is bars will go onto the 318i then.
Any ways here is a before shot when I had euro bumpers on it

The 85 was my first e30 then I got the 88 325is and sold the euro bumpers from the 318i to Bimmersteven as I had no plans to keep the 85 318i and they wouldn't fit the 88 but it seems like now I'm keeping the 85 as I've had the 88 for a year.

It's Polaris silver. I wish I could make the rust go away but you can see into the trunk from the wheel well. So the rear needs a whole new panel. The car spent all it's life in PA before I got it. The rear fender is worst bit and there is some spots here and there poping up.

could you not cut the rust out and do some kind of metal work to fill in?

I dont think people understand my fear of rust. I HATE the shit it literally sends shivers down my spine.

I have some bubbles on my sun roof. And some on some baremetal since my rockers hit the ground or something. Im getting on that asap.

Anyway the springs make a world of differance.

                Sold it.

I paid $60 for them from Red325es on this board. With the rust yes I could cut it out but it's so bad I'd need to have a whole panel welded in. As there is also another hole behind the bumper surround.

I've got a fender, it's on the Blue chopped up e30 in the back ground of one of the pics. To me it's not worth the price of having it fixed. Luckily the rust is moving away from the strut tower so it will be a while before the rust becomes structual. If I took a picture with the bumper surround off you'd see how bad it is. When I purchased the car I saw the rust but there was no hole. The metal was so bad it has just crumbled away and I've crummbled all the loose stuff off and brushed rust converting primer on it.
