Adding more foam to tighten the leathe seems like a band-aid fix, can't you tighten the leather at all?

Are you going to recover a back seat in matching leather? What color is the back seat now?

We'll be doing both - stuffing and altering the leather. I'm confident the final product will be top notch :) See the pics I added to the first post - the rears are matching.

They are definitely interesting - but like I said, I love them - I knew I'd get mixed results, no one is going to love everything I do.

wow the wood looks great in your int. I might have personally gone w/ slightly darker seats but it looks great IMHO. That is one of my new fav interior's :twisted:

I love the wood too - though that's another hit or miss with e30 guys. I won't change it for the world. Different, classy, and just plain beautiful.

It looks too loose. After you stuff it it should look a bit better. Did you diy?

We'll be adjusting it to fit better - it's definitely a bit looser than we expected. Rob S (carartunlimited.com) did all the handiwork you see here.

If you could tightern up the leather a bit they will be titties though.

Not a fan at all, but will not bash as I would not welcome bashing on the new interior that I am working on for my e30vert. There is too much leather material in all of the pieces that have been cut and thats what gives it that saggy look. To fix that correctly one needs to remove the entire covers and unstitch the individual pieces and then cut them back a bit and restitch. ALot of work to do it that way! To overstuff the existing seats is not an easy task as one has to add just enough padding in areas that need it and then hog ring it back on tight. This method almost always causes gathering and puffiness in some areas and droops in others.

Hope you did not pay the trim shop much for that work. Good luck on getting it sorted.

Whatever it takes to get it just right will be done - I paid a very fair price, and with it comes complete satisfaction, as with all of his work. We will trim, retrim, and alter until we're both happy :)

the speaker cards dont match your door cards. looks goofy. were did you come across that material?

What speaker cards? The front kick panel ones? We discussed this earlier -they'll be black soon.

Love the wood and the seats as theyre so god damn comfy, but Id lose the leather shift boot actually. Keep it black.

Ok, ok, old man recliner seats - I've got it ;) The FIT is going to be modified. It's the overall picture and color I'm hoping to get across. Like the lower rear seat - it needs to be dyed, but the fit and finish are top notch.

Ditto, they will look good once the leather is tightened up.

Im not diggin the steering wheel though, first off wood dosnt belong in e30s, and second wood steering wheels look ugly in any car.

I'm not the only person that thinks wood belongs in an E30 - ask Alpina ;) But, you're entitled to your opinion!

That being said, seeing it in the daylight makes it look even worse to me. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Looks like the car has gone downhill since Dave got rid of it, sorry to say.

I'm totally into the color, almost E36/Modena like. Would look better if the material wasn't so 'loose' looking on the seats. I think it's a great contrast with the Royalblau.

Just saw the daylight pics. Car looks ten times better than the last time I saw it at the garage. When did you get the trunk lid painted?

Well the rear top portion of the seat looks OK. It still needs alot of work but the front seats are just garabge. The recovering job looks like SHIT. Hope you didn't pay them yet.

The car has gone in no direction but UPHILL. The trim was falling off, the rear trunklid was alpineweiss, there was no front lip at all (i put the i lip on to clean things up - he used to have an is lip) the fog wiring was hanging down below the valance, and the interior was absolutely TRASHED. Those who have seen the car in person will agree - I've done a fair amount of work and it looks a lot better. There's nothing on this car that has gone downhill - unless you just don't like my taste of interior color. All of the nicks, scratches, and the peeling paint on the driver's door were all there before - Dave was just kind enough to take more...flattering...pictures ;)

The rear seat DID come out a lot better - we'll be working with the fronts to make it match. I'm not sure if the original padding is just tired on the e21 front seats, or if the leather is just loose - either way it will be fixed, and it will look much better.

Didn't get it repainted - bought a royalblau trunk lid from Rigmaster and put it on. The chip was already there - and to be honest, the scratches help the trunklid blend in with the rest of the car - had I resprayed a white trunklid, it would be fresh paint against the rest of the body, and a white base would have been harder to match the rest of the body.

Garbage is a stretch - but in comparison the rear seat did come out fitting a lot nicer. Again, SHIT is a bit overboard - I'll post pics of the original interior in a few so you can compare ;) I already paid, but as I stated above - it comes with Rob's commitment to satisfaction, and we will alter and refit until we're both happy.

For those who don't remember, or never really got a good look, this is how the car look when I got it (less the wood wheel)












Every seat had separation at the seams, every panel was damaged, heavily faded, or both, the rear deck had faded to a light grey/tan color - in general, there wasn't a good angle to look at.

Yep - can't afford it right now, and don't want the downtime over the summer. I don't drive it over the winter anyways, so I'll pull the thing apart, send the body to be painted, and rebuild some form of an engine.

PS - wheels should be on their way shortly - should clean things up nice ;)

The front seats were left loose to see how they'd fit once they got some seat time. They were sold to me with the intention of making modifications - this was a "first step" modification, if you may. It's easy to bring the leather in tighter - it's another to make it too tight the first time and have to make it looser - you can't, and you would have wasted the leather.

I'll be making modifications soon with Rob regarding the loose fitment of the front - once it's done, I'll post "after" pics and you guys can critique again.

I'm glad to see that especially in comparison with the old interior, the new interior is getting some good votes. We'll see how the alterations come out ;)
