I did end up needing to twist the shift rod ever so slightly to get the shifter to be perfectly centered. Probably about 3 degrees of twist. T'was easy though, vise and a pipe wrench.

Mmmk, so I tried to stick the head on to check clearances. Turns out I needed to smack my firewall some more. So I slapped that bitch around some and set my head on with 1mm of space between the head and firewall. Then sorta temporary-like added the old school manifold. There may be some clearance related riggery needed. The hood will be getting a "vent" of some degree later on for the "shotgun intake scoop". I haven't tried it with the original intake manifold. I bet it's a little lower profile.

          Thanks man.

An idea crossed my mind this morning a few days after someone mentioned carbs. Triple deuces. That's old school muscle style. Idk, nothing is set in stone...

Oh wow. Carbs are rather expensive ($1300-$1600 for three). MS2 is waaaaaay cheaper. Carbs schmarbs...

Theres lots of options for fueling these motors. I was going to run twin weber 32/36s using an old Bavaria intake manifold but decided to go megasquirt instead. Theres even a marine intake manifold that bolts up and would allow you to run a good ole holley 4b

              Bavaria manifold

personally I think a cammed out, carbed, euro bumpered m30 e30 would be badass shit

You don't have to go marine to get the 4 barrel manifold, early 7 series had them. I have 1 of each setup of course , single 4 barrel, twin 2 barrel, triple sidedraft. All the carb manifolds are made for small intake ports like your early intake manifold.

                    Of course.:eeek:

I'm probably gonna just end up using the first section of the old manifold to bolt my supercharger box to, just like my m20 version. I'm kinda holding out for a different version, but it does work well.

Alright, motor back on the stand and I'm gonna get after the re-gasketry of it. then set her in for good. That went kinda fast in my world. Now I need to make a damn decision about whats gonna manage this motor.

                      Motronic 1.1?
pros: free (cause it came with the motor)
cons: rough idle, old tech, blah blah, won't do boost

                      1.3?
Pros: better idle, newer tech, slightly prettier
cons: not free, gotta rig up crank sensor, buy harmonic balancer, won't do boost

                      MS2?
                      pros: ummm everything
                      cons: $700, harmonic balancer, $$$, $$$

ADHD moment, did yous guys know that auto zone.com has all of the torque specs for the important bolts?

                        m30b34:
Rod bearing cap nut torque: 40ft/lbs
Main bearing cap bolt torque: 44ft/lbs
                        Head bolt torque: 58-59ft/lbs
Intake nut torque: 23ft/lbs then 32ft/lbs

I'd go 1.3 it's what I'm running and it makes it easier to wire to the car imo

It is, Right now it's just about the harmonic balancer from the b35. I need to just put an ad in parts wanted… Then I'd just put an m20b25 harness on it and the ms2 would be a breeze.

Bottom end disassembled and reassembled to proper torque specs with assembly lube. Timing cover gasket and front seal replaced. Rear seal and housing gasket replaced. Smaller oil pump gear and shorter chain installed. Oil pump, pan, and gasket installed.

Head is next. Anybody know how to time these motors? There is no obvious mark on the cam gear. The crank tdc is clear.

I have an extra m30 crank position sensor bracket from my m30 swap parts sourcing if you want it. I ordered a new one from blunt, and then got a used one with the b35 harmonic balancer I bought.
