My 1983 323i

I've been lurking the forums for the past couple of days, so I figured I'd make an account and post my E30. I've always liked the look of the E30, and have wanted one, but never really looked too far into buying one until I was window shopping online ads due to my daily car being repaired. I snapped it up pretty quickly.

Anyway, here it is:


I have a question, though. Since buying it, I've been researching a bit, and I've come to realize just how old it is, and that most of the aftermarket parts are aimed at the facelifted 318i and the 325i; so, should I keep it and work with it? Or hold out for a late 80s/early 90s 318i or 325i? Either way, I'm liking it, I just don't really know where to start.

Welcome to R3V. Sweet car! Pretty rare to see an 83 E30.

No reason not to keep it. A lot of parts between these cars interchange in one way or another.

As a fellow 1983 model year 323i owner, I say keep it. Mine is a 12/82 production, so my e30 is only 10 months newer than I am, I like that. There have been quite a few 323i owners pop up in the past year, so if you have any questions about the m20b23, you'll find lots of people here dealing with the same model.

I don't mind the wheels in black, to be honest. That said, it looks like the guy who had it before me rattle-canned them black.

I think my main issue so far is that it's an auto. Manual BMWs are pretty scarce here in Australia; it's like a 5:1 ratio for autos and manuals. But yeah, I think it'd be a good project for me to do mainly detailing sort of stuff, and maybe learn some electrical things. Started by downloading the service manual, though I'll probably look for a hard copy.
