    Not an e30. Roundie Content

So, I got a chance to share this with some of you already. I finally got my shit together and got the car home.

I found a 1971 2002 roundie in a guys garage in North NJ. The guy who owned it was the 2nd and 4th owner (sold to a friend for a couple years) and has had it for almost 40 years. He's tired of wrenching and hates the fact the NJ roads destroy nice cars so he wanted to sell it on. I guess I could say I was in the right place at the right time.

    Some info:
-about 20k miles on full engine rebuild
-has 2002tii m10 head (maybe someone can fill me in on what this means. Got this info from the PO)
    -5 speed swap with Getrag 245 from 1978 320i
    -New CV's and boots
-All bushings OEM, none cracking or dry rotting
-Brand new tires on refinished turbines
    -Koni adjustable shocks
    -Paint near new

I'm sure I'm missing some things, but the pictures mostly speak for themselves. The m10 runs like a champ with zero smoke at all what-so-ever. It idles like a dream too. I just need to swap out the clutch slave and bleed the clutch and it'll be back on the road

    Some pics

It was pretty dusty when we found it but it cleaned up really well. Only about 5000 miles on the Granada red paint job.

The hood trim doesn't look like it lines up because the hood isn't latched in any of these pictures

    Trailer home

    Glovebox goodies:

Inside the manual were some notes about the 5 speed swap and the length of the driveshaft

It is not an E10 either, all roundie 02's are correctly known as the "type 114".

The Tii usually came with either the E12 head (except most of the 72's that had the 121 head). Valve sizes are pretty much standard across all 2002 2.0L's (with a couple odd exceptions).

Looks like a beautiful car with some neat bits!

Yep. It wasn't listed or anything. The guy actually had an ad for a BMW bike for sale in a local store. My buddy bought the bike and told me about the car

Thank you. For the kind words and the info. I'm sure you can tell, I don't know jack about these cars (yet). Just that it was a good deal. The PO was the one who mentioned the 2002tii head. There's really no rust or rot. We even had the seats and carpet out at one point and it's very clean. It was completely restored in 1992 and really held well. There's a little bubbling on the roof that I hate but I won't mess with it for a long while.

I found this crappy picture on google, but this is the same postcard I've had at home since I bought my 1987 325is:

It was definitely a push to pick this thing up. I know what you're saying about seeing these pop up recently

This one is so nice, I hope you dont do any crazy stuff to it like stick an m50 or a Honda engine in it. Maybe an s14, but there is something to be said for keeping these cars original and enjoying them the way they were made.
                        Im getting old?

I hate you OP. Where in NJ are you? I'm guessing North since no one is ever from South NJ.
