Ouch, that really sucks. We had that happen on our old vert. They re sprayed it with lacquer and it would fade really quick on half the car.

Bummer to see this. I was rear-ended a couple of months ago in my iX. Luckily they didn't total it, but the "repair" job was less than satisfactory and I'm fearing an upcoming fight to have everything put back the way it was.

Accidents like this are a huge pain, and especially infuriating since they really should never have happened in the first place (after plowing into my car that was stopped at a red light in the rain the guy said, "Huh, last time I rear ended somebody it was because my tires were bald...").

Good Luck sorting this all out and I hope you find yourself back in a minty E30 ASAP.

Receipts and comps alone won't do it, you will likely need to hire an appraiser.

No adjuster that wants to keep their job will accept comps that will likely x3 or x4 the initial value.

Thanks guys. I'm looking at other e30's so I'm prepared. There are a few 4 doors somewhat local I'm interested in. Now the waiting game for even finding out if it's totaled or not. I don't want to buy another in the snowballs chance they do pay out.

There is no question that it's totaled. Follow the advice above and get it appraised so you're ready to fight the insurance.

Thanks. I told a recommended appraiser who coincidentally works at the shop the car is being taken to that if it is totaled that I want to have it appraised so should have that done as soon as it is confirmed.

I'm headed out to look at a low mileage e36 M3 4 door today. Should be interesting, I'm leaning towards stepping into an e36 M3 4 door rather than build another e30, so expect a part out thread soon.

Fight the insurance company! They wanted $2k for my car, and $1k if i kept it, but I hired an appraiser, paid like 400, and they offered $5000, I declined and now I am waiting on an umpire to finish his appraisal.
