    From e30 to e36

Hey guys, It's been a while since I've posted in here but I thought it would be a good time to introduce you all the new M3 I just picked up. Heres a little background. Some of you may know I previously had a '91 325i that I bought planning on restoring it and making it my "ideal" first car. I was browsing the local craigslist and noticed a gorgeous cosmos black e36 M3 for sale or trade. In the description he mentioned that he was interested in other BMW's and I took the leap of faith on offering my pride and joy and long story short I became an owner of an M3 within 3 days! I plan on upgrading to an M50 Manifold with a 3.5 MAF paired to a Dinan cold air intake! Anyways, here are the pics!

Oh well, To each his own. The e36 M3 was the car that got me interested in cars if that makes sense. I was going to get one just like it after graduation regardless so I'm happy I was able to upgrade sooner

I feel you, hope you got some cash on top because your e30 was clean. this car actually looks really nice except the hood pins, whenever I sell my 2nd car im either going to get a e36 m3 (black coupe like yours) or a m5 (e34 or e39)

either way I like the car just loved the e30

Yeah, I also loved the e30 but I kind of "settled" for it originally. I wanted an e36 from the start but I had only saved up a little under 3500, Thank you though! I have to say I really miss the thing but the new owner is a cool guy, He should keep her maintained and i'm gonna do the same thing with the M3. I'll eventually own an e30 M3 in the future because I really do love working on them

            Nice

What year? Looks like a 1997. Mileage?

Did you get a decent service history?

Put the Z3 brace on your rear towers for peace of mind.

If you ever need to replace a tranny seal considering doing the detents and pins.

You started your E36 ownership right and with a set of vaders to boot. In terms of "M" cars, best bang for the buck, assuming a decent service and they can only increase in value at this point.

I too went from e30 to e36 M3, a cosmos coupe as well. I loved my e30 but I have loved the M3 more even though for most of my ownership of the M it has been parked. They're totally raw, good power, good looks, good overall cars.

The e36 M3 was also my first dream car that got me into cars as well.

Is that a 95 with an OBDII conversion or an OBDII with a secondary air pump delete?

You need a xbrace to stiff things up. I got one for sale and local, $100. Let me know

Thanks everyone. It's a '99 actually and I have a xbrace i'm just waiting for some free time to install it, Yeah I just feel like this car is much more reliable than the e30 and driving it is so much smoother and just overall easier. I'm the 3rd owner, First was a BMW mechanic who took excellent care of it and the 2nd owner was a guy in his early twenties that did some good maintenance on the car and I plan on doing the same thing

And it's OBDII with a turner SAP delete chip. It has really nice aftermarket headers and I was still able to pass CA emissions test without much work!

This interests me. How'd you go about passing the visual with the air pump removed? Does the software simply prevent the DME from throwing a check engine light? I have an obd2 e36 and would love to do the euro/e30 style coolant reservoir (stock one is a pain to bleed and is fragile), but can't for fear of failing visual and SMOG in general. Nice car though, keep up the good work!

Joey there are a few posts with what to do when deleting the SAP. I happen to also live in CA and deleted the SAP. Do a post search under my name and you'll find it.
