That is awesome!
Nice update. I have always loved the Alpina's for that reason. Many people will just think it's some other BMW but to those who know what it is, its the Holy Grail of BMW's. She cleans up nice too :)Leave a comment:

Yeah i've seen a few that sold recently. Too racecar might be an understantment lol.Alpina wheels..genuine..pop up now and again. You need to scour the online forums and be ready to pay. Hopefully a fellow Alpina'er will see your restoration and help you out.
There are some crazy three piece Alpina wheels on ebay.de
Probably too racecar.

You sir must be holding out on a nice stash of cloth ;D
Yeah i'm thinking of keeping OE paint for when we do paint.
To get the dent out would be more of a reason to paint though lol.
^^ Yes, this.
Sorry! Trying to stay stock rim height for now.
:-D Thanks, glad I could share the story with you guys. Have a few more surprises.. As you scroll down :D
Now before I do on. I just want to ask from your personal perspectives..
The head lights are pitted to hell on the inside. I've thought about buying smilies, but I don't think it'll give this car justice.
Methods i've read of, are to oven bake pull apart, then let the glass cool off inside the oven. Haven't tried this before, would hate to damage this set.
As well as brake ducts, and liners/under bodies, haven't had time to look them up. Early model, Euro specific, or Alpina specific? (I guess this is for Frank, Raul, jm, B6guy)
Update #2
So, got around to a few things to get her road worthy last week.

Deflated old tires..

They still looks pretty round, right?

And we are nearly there!

As I went to throw the tires back on, I finally realized how HUGE the strut pistons are. At least 3-4x that of a normal e30 IIRC
Also went ahead and fixed the canister hose that was rotting a bit

New rubber

I'm pretty sure I haven't taken too many pics of the engine bay.. Or any at all, that clean up will take time

Anndd gas
Open road!

Had a few friends over later that day, I swear everyone thinks we work on nothing but BMW's

The next day I had some time to test fit the front valance. It worked out quite well, as I wasn't expecting to fit like a glove

Being this was all done by Friday, I wanted to try and go for a drive on the weekend. (I hope you guys don't mind senseless pics, got carried away, and had a few come out pretty good!)
That's when I heard there was going to be a cars and coffe at the local BMW dealership. What better way to break in a drive than to go into cars and coffee on Saturday? So I spent a fair amount of time cleaning up the body later that day.

FF to CnC:
Cold was an understatement. Florida, is Florida, for a reason. Nothing but humidity, and wind chill, whilst being 40° out!
The sun wasn't even a factor 'till about ~10:30, and we got there at 7am :hitler:

Had this little gem there, Alpina replica that was built by.. A guy in Cali. -Known guy, he builds all these crazy cars.
This car was featured in a magazine in 2002. (I'll have to get deets later as I can't really remember)

The Alpina did just as i'd thought it'd do. Some people passed by as if it were an 80's BMW, while others were zipping their pants up jaws open.
Lots of conversations were started, and stories of other builds were told. I was given a heads up on a duPont Registry meet coming up soon.
Oh, and you better believe we were eyeing this car the entire time.

And that's it..
Unless you want more..
Differential temp gauge works! Pretty gnarly to see that vent gauge in action.
I'm thoroughly impressed this was a thing all the way back in the 80's. The look is very sublte and streamlined. Absolutely love it.

You're still scrolling? Oh! The surprise! Right, right..
Well the car was purchased by PO back in '88. The car was imported in late 85, Federalized in '86 @ 19xx miles. The PO purchased the car @ 20k on the odo, in '88. Let that sink.
The Special Envelope

Mind you this paperwork, which is actually older than me, shows all the information you'd want from a gray market car;
And to me, this is porbably the most favorite thing I love about this car.
-Oh, and how badass is that? The car is considered an "Alpina" on the Title.
Didn't know that was even a thing. Thought BMW - Alpina B6, not Alpina - B6.
But I guess it would make sense that Alpina is considered a manufacturer in the EU.Leave a comment:

My 1984 B6 2.8 #89 has the same interior i.e. seats and door cards. I believe some of the later models had Alpina stripes on the door cards.Leave a comment:

84-85 cars didn't have houndstooth. It's more of a checkered cloth. The rears came solid black vinyl though even if the front have cloth centers. My 323i is the same way.Leave a comment:

a buddy has a set of Alpina reps in 16x8 - but 5x120.
I'd just leave the paint - but get that dent out!Leave a comment:

Always easier/less expensive to repaint it factory color and do it correctly. Both colors are nice.Leave a comment:
