    Bronzit beater, 88 325is

Hello all. I've been reading here for quite a while, but finally have my new E30 roadworthy and cleaned up a bit, so I figured I'd post.

I bought my first BMW (E46 328ci coupe) last year. I've been so impressed with that car that I decided to try selling my other project car, a restored AMC Hornet (360/5-speed). The replacement would have been either a 2002 or E30, and I finally decided on the E30. The E30 is handles much better and is way more fun to drive than the old V8 musclecar, and the BMW is also quicker than I expected.

The new car is an 88 325is. 226,xxx miles. Bronzit with tan interior. Until now I've been busy with maintenance. The car came without any records, so I went ahead and changed the water pump, timing belt, belts and hoses, changed all the fluids, O2 sensor, front CABs, etc.... The struts and rear trailing arm and subframe bushings are a little tired, but for now the car should be safe and dependable.

Plans are to make it a fun driver that can do autocrosses and track days, and get me to work. I'd like it slightly lower and stiffer, with 15x7's. I don't want a show car, so paint and body work is out of the question for now. Maybe a plastic bumper swap and converting to a black interior. Oh yeah, it has an automatic (ack!), so I'll eventually do a 5-speed conversion.

sexy. make sure it doesn't "eliminat0r" itself and run into another car or something. bronzits tend to do that- it's been proven by the "see" (society of e30 elders).

It looks better in photos than in real life. The paint on the roof and hood is pretty tough. Plus, the front seats are in really bad shape.

Also, taking photos just before dusk makes the car look better. You can't see all the imperfections.

Yup, one of the reasons I wanted an 88-89. Plastic bumpers, ellipsoids, and no airbags.

IMHO, the metallic colors look best on these cars. The body lines show up better.

Yeah, the autobox has to go. Otherwise it's looking great. Don't loose sight of making the car a track/auto-x'er, but I think you know that. Welcome to the beater/track whore world :D

                              Keep it slideways!!
