I guess I must be destined to never have a nice car...

Parked in my hotel parking lot, in the same place I always park it, right in front of the window in view of the front desk. Some jerk decided that it was okay to do a hit and run on my car tonight.

Front passenger fender destroyed. I'm praying that I can get this fixed before I come back home. It's probably going to cost an arm and a leg to get this one fixed because of the custom fender flare and the MTech2 piece. Though, It looks like the Mtech piece is salvagable.





...and I just barely got the car back...

Well folks...after monitoring and having the El Paso PD come out and file a full report, the officer and I made a second trip around the parking lot, and much to my amazement....the son of a bitch that hit my car had arrived since my last round!

He convienently parked with his rear bumper to the retaining wall so that I wouldn't recognize the damage from just passing by. I wasn't sure at first, but then I pulled out the tape measure and every mark on his bumper lined up with mine, and not to mention the healthy and very visible imprint left by my tire when he rammed me. He apparently hit me so hard the the bumper copletely flattened out against my tire and even imprinted on the underside of the rear apron.

The officer also said that the hit and run is an arrestable Class B misdemeanor offense here. To bad it isn't like Cali...felony there.

Here's his car and my tire. Once you look at the damage on my car and the damage to his, it's pretty obvious he did it.

Odds are...

99.999% of them are on their way to the salvage yard. The fender look's repairable from here, the paint is new and an easy match, and someone else is paying. What's the problem? Wanting a complete repaint for a fender bender is the mirror image of leaving the scene. It always amazes me how much people care about cars. The way your stomach tightens when you are about to hit a really hard bump and have just realized it's too late to miss it or how much more rational leaving the scene seems if you have more .08 blood alcohol .

I'm not going to ask for a complete respray as the rest of the car is fine. I DO however want the damage to be repaired, and I'm going to make the other guy or the rental company pay for it. Bottom line, the other guy deserves to be arrested for leaving the scene.

It's like ramming into someone's nice car and deciding, 'hell with it. He's probably got insurance anyway, so it's not my problem.'

Sucks it happened, glad it seems on the way to resolved. Did he admit it? I agree people suck, I have spent the whole day dealing with a bitch that hit my Wife on her way to work this morning.

Here if there is no agreement at the scene they take the cars to impound. (think pick your part but worse)

This idiot was in the right turn lane, tried to beat out my Wife, didn't and hit the van. THE NEW VAN.

Then she tried to say it was My Wife's fault! The damage was negligable (slight paint transfer right rear fender and bumper) The police told her she was at fault, needed to pay or they could take her Trail Blazer. Her husband came with me to the body shop, paid and I just picked it up. Hit at 9am home at 6pm.

Hope you get it handled without any bs.
