Thank you for the kind words! I'm noticing things that aren't perfect and bother me, once the weather in Northern California clears up in the next few weeks I'll go ahead and take them on!

Thanks Bud! Appreciate the compliment, but definitely man! Maybe at the next Cars and Coffee in Treasure Island or another Open House at CATuned. Heard they might be doing another one.

Thank you! If you need any help embarking on your e30 journey feel free to shoot me a pm with your phone number. I'd be happy to help answer any questions! (By the way, sorry for naming you Chris in the nor-cal General chat!) My buddy Chris totally fit the description and I assumed he made a r3v account! He's also looking at buying an auto e30 and doing a manual swap and just the other day was asking me about it, haha!

Unfortunately, I won't be attending this months cars and coffee this weekend. I have a pretty busy weekend and I have to make time to study for exams coming up. Next month I'll make it out for sure!

Hello! White late model coupe from the bay

I feel like I never get to work on the car anymore!

This weekend I finally had a chance to tackle a few minor things, but the rain really got in the way. I was totally expecting to beat it, but the storm came in too swiftly and left me the annoyance.

I installed a new Ryan G style underspoiler for the IS lip! Got it mounted with some self tapping screws and washers (although I did pre-drill)
I love the way it looks!
                  (Excuse the dirty car)

I decided to bump up the spring rate in the rear from 10k (559lb) to 12k (671lb) in the same size spring to help balance out the suspension. While I was in there, I found a small nail sized sliver where the undercoat had chipped off of the wheel well and a small layer of surface rust formed. I took the time to clean out the rear wheel-wells from any dirt and debris with some brushes, degreaser, and a hose; getting behind all the little nooks and crannies. Followed that up with a brief cleaning of my sway bars and trailing arms. By that time it was already too late, the rain had started and it was getting too gloomy to work outside. I threw a cover on the car and decided to call it a night.

In the morning, I woke up early and decided to take advantage of it. Went out to the car, and applied some permatex rust desolver to the small spot. I let it soak in a bit, then worked it with a metal brush. Then, I washed it off and made sure everything was nice and dry. No more rust! I followed by spraying the affected area with Krylon's rust preventative paint. While I was at it, I also scrubbed and touched up a spot on the trailing arm where the spring was chafing and exposing some metal. Then, I bagged up all the suspension bits, trailing arms, shocks, and breaks and coated the wheel wells with rubberized undercoating top to bottom. Now the wheel wells are fully sealed for years to come! After I shot the coating, I continued to install the new rear springs. Now in the past I was getting a funny clicking sound out of the rear suspension, but it recently went away with dry weather. I cleaned the rubber spring grommets, spring adjusters, and sway bar mounts and decided to use some high temp grease on them to smoothen them up and prevent and abnormal sounds.

I apologize for that I don't have any good shots of the process as it was raining, and I was hurrying to move the car inside the garage to fully cure.

I know... The dust cover is bent! It doesn't interfere so I don't plan on changing it. Unless I get bigger breaks! :D

I buttoned everything back up and rolled the car into the garage to help the undercoating cure. I'll take better shots next weekend when I do the fronts... More on that in a minute!

Later in the evening, my package from bavrest came in. Both Matt and Greg are great guys! Met up with them at the CAtuned open house a few months back.
I used their tach strip when I did my cluster restoration the first time with great results, however I wasn't very happy with the condition on my tach or speedo cluster gauge faces. One had a heavy wear spot from trying to clean it, and the other had some strange hazy spot on the ODO window. I made a special request for them to send me an oem tach and speedo face and they delivered! Along with an awesome orange tach strip to tie things together.

While I had the cluster out, I had bought a set of needles off of a parts car a while ago, painting them with a proper fluorescent red VS. The current dark red I had in the cluster and was unhappy with. I swapped the needles (very tricky as they're oh so fragile, yet you need a fair bit of force) and the gauge faces and cleaned up the rest of the cluster board with a soft brush to get rid of any particles. Reassembled and good to go! So much brighter! I definitely did a better job this time with the needle paint, and the work now speaks for itself. Very happy with the result and the resourceful Bavrest who was able to get me the components I needed! I definitely recommend them!

(Painting the econo-meter that I didn't have a replacement for)

                  All back together!

Getting back to the whole front fender ordeal. Two things...

My alignment is terrible (Too much toe out) and is twitchy at speed.

My wheel bearings are completely done. Well, almost done...

I put an order in for Febi front wheel hubs, oem dust caps, and shields for the new bearings, and next weekend I will be installing them! Before hand, I will be cleaning the front wheel wells and following the same process as I did in the rear (cleaning everything in sight, undercoating, lubing suspension components).
Also, I ordered some ATE break fluid to do my break fluid flush, and I will assess the breaks and decide if it's time for new pads.

Following all of this, the car is definitely ready for its spring cleaning. I'll be giving her a nice thorough wash, claybar, wax, and interior clean!

Speaking or interior, I may be putting in an order for some fancy fabric soon ;)

Also, I was able to score some Zender side skirts that I may be refinishing and installing soon! :D super excited for those!

I'll have more updates and photos coming next weekend!

                  That's it for now!

I 100% agree! Well, it was the only chance I had last weekend. This Friday I'll be doing the fronts along with the wheel bearings and what not! Weather looks to be warm and sunny :)

                      Cluster in the car!

                          Thanks!!!

In other news, big things coming!
Just spent about $400 on fabric alone, and still need to add in another $100 or so in materials.
My interior will certainly stand out from the rest once completed!!! :D
