What's up guys!? New to the e30 scene. I have a couple 740's a 93 and a 98 and regret getting rid of both of them. Just picked up 1989 325i for super cheap. Currently just sitting because I'm working a changing a few things on my sr20 s13 240sx.(if anyone needs help with 240 things I'm your man) Anywhooo picked this car up for $250 because the guy was having issues with it and didn't have time for it. The main issue I'm having is once it hits 1200rpms it bogs down. Almost like it's hitting a limiter. Changed all the plugs and wires and haven't started it again since, almost garuntee that that isn't the issue. Have a new fuel filter to put in as well. Throwing a code but, I don't have a reader for these so I was going to pull it to my only BMW shop in town and have them look it up for me. Has anyone else had the same issue or know of anyone with the same problems? Thanks for the help! Happy to be a part of the forum!

Welcome to R3v!
If you could define exactly what's going on at that 1200RPM, it'd be a little easier for us to help. What do you mean by bogs down? Like the car stalls? The only thing I can think of is a vacuum leak, but I'm probably way off on that."Leafeon" '92 Lagunengrun 325i Vert (Daily Driver/Project)

You can get your codes by doing a stomp test. Google E30 stomp test. Key on engine off press on gas pedal 5 times and your codes will blink out for you. Google it. From your description it sounds like a clogged fuel return line or blocked exhaust. How to remove, install or convert to pop out windows

It will hit 1200-1400 and go back down to about 800 then just keep repeating while I'm in throttle. As far as getting codes will they come up like obd does..like have to have a computer hooked to the car? I'll pull the line off the fpr and see if I have flow. As far as the exhaust I was going to pull it all anyway. Have a hunch the cats plugged

You don't have to have a computer hooked up. You do the stomp test, and the check engine light will blink. Google it, I am sure there is a youtube video or write up.How to remove, install or convert to pop out windows

BMW E30 Motronic Fault Codes
Procedure for acquiring error codes from Bosch Motronic DME - aka "Stomp Test"
BMW e30 s, which are 1988 and newer, have Bosch Motronic versions M1.1, M1.3 and M1.7 and can display fault diagnostic codes. Procedure for obtaining codes is:
For safety reasons, put the transmission in neutral, and turn the ignition key to "On" position but do not start the car
In quick succession fully depress and release accelerator pedal 5 (five) times
After couple of seconds Check Engine light will blink once, and start to flash code(s)
All codes are composed of 4 digits (see table below). For example, code 1211 is represented as Blink, pause, Blink Blink, pause, Blink, pause, Blink
When code(s) start to repeat, all of them have been displayed
