My new 24v German e30, and wheels that do* fit.

Well I've got a bit more done on the car, I found a mechanic here in Stuttgart who is a bit of an e30 expert so had the car looked over and found some smaller problems nothing too scary though. Engine is running nicer now and new rear brakes are on the way, I decided to keep the front bbk after some more research it's a pretty popular set up and proven on street and track so should be suitable for my needs :)

I also have new tires and wheel bearing and the car is running super smooth which is awesome!
Yesterday I also put in my new koni rear shocks as the car was bouncing all over the place so there is a huge improvement there too.
Car is starting to feel a bit more grounded :D

I picked up some fitted floor mats and fixed up the stereo with aux input in the glovebox which makes the interior feel a lot more complete.
Planning to paint the roll bar black too.



Oh yeh and I found some is skirts locally! So I bought/ mounted them yesterday with some double sided tape, but it will just be temp until I get some clips as I reallly doubt it will hold long.. Now where the hell to get the clips..

I really don't understand the appeal of wheels with stretched tires that stick out way past the guards, but whatever to each their own i guess..
Plus, I was getting some vibrations with the oversized wheels and diy BBK set up so they had to go.
I would like to use this car on the track as well as be able to push pretty hard through alpine passes and german autobahns. So hellastance wheels are not my priority.

So anyway here are the new (very "boring" :P ) wheels:









And here are the rebuilt/powdercoated OEM calipers I picked up on the weekend




The rear brake rotors actually look like they've never been changed they're so thin, and the callipers look equally as good. The front "BBK" consists (as far as i can tell) of e36 Callipers and Mini cooper disks (not 100%), however they are also badly worn and the contact patch of the brake pad does not line up with the rotor very well..
Now I have to decide on disks and Pads. Im looking at zimmerman cross drilled rotors as A lot of Mountain passes i've driven heat the brakes up a LOT, So i like the idea of extra cooling to reduce fade, even if it means they have a slightly shorter life..
Not sure about pads yet.

Wheel bearings also are on the cards.

Beautifully sorted car. Yes, I agree the wheels detract from the very Teutonic sense of purpose that the rest of the car wears so correctly. What a perfect e30, well acquired sir. And thumbs up on the direction you are taking it.

Looks awesome!!! The only reason the Futuras look funny is that you've got your suspension jacked up! Lower it and it will look sick!

Yes there are quite strict tüv laws but as long as you get everything registered it is legal to change some engines and wheels, brakes etc.. 24v swaps are actually quite common on e30s I've found. In my case everything is already registered in the tüv as well. :up:

Thank you for the help, is this common and what is the benefit to doing this?
Is it unusual to see smoke in this situation? it really bothers me. Its not huge amount but enough to see when the engine is hot, even with the hood down.

Anyone able to explain the oil catch can? It only has one hose leading into it, from the rocker cover. And theres some smoke coming from it when the engine's warm.
