Picked it up today! It was a CL purchase, and worth every penny. Definitely going to need some work. Sorry for the crap pic. More pics and details to come shortly...

Thanks. Alright. So this was definitely a compulsive buy. It was cheap so the risk was small, and I knew I could flip it for a profit as is if need be. After looking through it, I think there's potential given my experience restoring my 912. I'm the third owner, it has 172K miles, has been daily driven for the last four years, and came out of San Diego. It doesn't look like PO was too worried with preserving it as I can list 15 routine things that should be done off the bat. Also, I don't know what PPO was thinking with blacking out the chrome and some other questionable mods. NO maintenance records. Here are some things that need to be done in no particular order:

          -replace leaking clutch master cylinder
          -change all fluids
          -compression test
          -clay/cut/polish/wax
-remove black paint on all chrome
          -refurbish bumpers
          -valve adjustment
-investigate large clouds of white smoke on acceleration
          -new plugs
          -source major oil leak
          -new water pump
          -new timing chain
          -source rocker moulding
          -refurbish fuel intake
-locate a replacement door for paint
          -replace spare tire well pan
          -change motor mounts
          -replace water temp wire
          -replace brake master cylinder
          -reseal trans
          -possibly change trans syncros

All these things will take some time and I plan on posting progress here since there's no real standout e10 board. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking:

You've got your work cut out with you with this one, but I know you can handle it. Hows the E30? Still rocking chrome basketweaves? haha

Nice combo of retro German metal there. I like the red/black combo on the 02 also.

Yes there is some rust, but not like this:

                            Love it, I don't think I've ever seen a non rusty 2002.

Even worse- chrome bottle caps. I couldn't be happier with the e30. To be honest, it may even be my favorite car out of the three. I was planning on doing a minor suspension overhaul and transmission flush on her in about two weeks, but the 2002 kind of sidetracked me. Having three 25+yo vehicles is keeping me busy since every car needs something...

The rust didn't scare me off too badly. I'm sure there's more than what meets the eye, but from what I can see it's manageable. Replacing the spare wheel well doesn't seem like too hard of a job and it can stay as is for a while. I may just replace the whole passenger door. Besides that, there's just the lower passenger rocker, which I can clean up then cover with the lower trim.

I'm not planning on going crazy with this one. Going to try and keep the cost down and just putz around in her for the time being. e10 vs 912 parts cost is definitely on her side!
