No big deal, just a ITAL something or other

So, back in 2013 (r3v was so hard back then!) I visited Germany and the BMW museum. I noticed that all the factory motorsport cars had the same steering wheel. When I returned home (Seattle @ this point) I immediately began my search for this steering wheel as a birthday present to myself. Found some really nice ones from a seller in our classifieds, but they were too nice for me. We began some PMs and eventually a got a wheel for a good price, but no hub.

Fast forward to this year and I made it my mission to have this wheel installed by this birthday, and after harassing Loren when I noticed he also bought the same wheel for his Porsche he found where I could get a brand new hub...and it was right in my backyard!..kinda. I contacted Pelican to see if I could drop by and grab the hub and they informed me that it would be 10 business days before I would get it because they would have to special order it from Germany. ugh

Fast forward again 10 business days + 7 more business days and I finally had the hub to go with my steering wheel. A quick trip to the hardware store and I had the correct bolts to attach the two together. I finally got it installed last night, and took a few "proper" pics with my Nikon point & shoot.

TLDR: quit being a fuckin lazy ass and read my story.

When I first bought it back in '13.

I did spend some time sanding and dying the leather so it has a nice softer feel and less blemishes. It still has cracks in the top, but just the right balance of badass and character

and then celebration, everything is ready to go!!

this thing is older than the average R3V member

I like yours better than mine. Without my center cover, you can see the wires for the horn. I found my hub on ebay Germany a while back. Wish I knew they were available new from pelican.

A lot of old BMW racecars had them. I have personally seen two old CSLs, a Group 5 E21, and an E30 M3 DTM car and every single one has this wheel in it. Not to mention it is the best looking aftermarket wheel you can put in an E30. If you saw and felt one in person you would understand - there is something undeniably special about them.

Looks great! Absolutely my favorite wheel in an E30

                            Yum, the best E30 wheel.

Been seeing a lot of gussied-up over-seas stuff pop up in recent months. Simon, you restore my faith.

Still prefer the looks of a tech 2 wheel to this one... but the cred factor is off the charts with this wheel. I definitely wouldn't kick it out of bed... I'd just hit it from behind. ;)

                              Congrats on getting it together.
