Hopefully the insurance company recognizes the car's value and compensate you fairly.
The bright side is that you are not injured, and that is the most important thing.
I had a similar experience with my first E30 M3 as well, and it took me a long time to find another good example to replace it.
But I am sure you will be able to get back into a nice one if you have patience.

I would bet money that the person who rear ended you had their eyes down in their lap scrolling through Instagram or texting. It blows my mind how frequently I see people driving around with their heads down, it's actually the sole reason I decided not to ride a motorcycle on the roads anymore. I almost get T-boned in my truck way too often to trust people on the road anymore.

I'm glad you're ok, but what a bummer. Why couldn't he rear end a new Toyota Camry or something. Sometimes the world just isn't fair.

Saw it on facebook, so sad.

Feel free to PM me when insurance tries to bend you over. I just had my henna appraised. The more data you can provide, the better outcome you'll have.

              I feel your pain, OP.

Keep your head up. It was a great car, but assuming you were covered and so was the at-fault party, you should make out with enough money to get a better (if that's even possible at this point) car.
