    Yup. They need to pay the FULL amount of the damages. In my case they started off with a lowball offer just to see if i'd take it. I understand this is typical.

    Go to Ebay or cars.com and see how many 88-89 325is are out there. Not many, and of those how many have original paint, no history of damage, and a history of documented maintenance? Almost none. Even a "mint" $4500 car will probably still need some work done (brakes, shocks, timing belt, etc..), so it might end up costing 6-8 grand in the end. I explained this to the adjuster and she understood.

    FWIW, their insurance company (the one that paid) is AAA, and they were wonderful to deal with. I have progressive, and I now understand that they suck badly. I will be switching to AAA soon.

      AAA ftw, i got way more then i paid for my totalled e21.
