    Here's the final outcome:

I keep the car with NO salvage title, and they gave me $8500 for damages plus $690 in lost use. The moral is that it pays to accurately document your car, and be persistant with insurance companies. Dont take their lowball offers, and don't settle for a penny less than what your car is worth.

I have already replaced the damaged bumpers with plastic bumpers, and replaced the damaged muffler with an Ansa cat-back. Still waiting to get the car into the body shop, though.

I wanted the IE, but they are apparently backordered for an eternity. So far the Ansa seems pretty decent, but time will tell.

I didn't see that one for sale when I sent the insurance company my comps.

When I was looking for comps, I considered ONLY 88 and 89 (no airbags for me, please) with a documented history. At the time there were very, very few for sale and they were expensive. To be honest, I didn't expect them to offer that much. I guess I was being a royal pain and they wanted to get rid of me quickly. ;)

They ignorned your paperwork for the $4500, then turned around and gave you 9k?

                            Right.

In 1980 I had a pos 2002. It had bad paint, and messed up interior. It did however have just about every mechanical part replaced and I had the reciepts from Zipper BMW to prove it (over 7k)

It was hit on the 405 by a drunk girl, ripping off the filler (pass) fender and causing the car to explode. I got the 7k and kept the car.

If you have credible reciepts, are calm and are the injured (not wrong) party inscos have to pay you.
