Don't want to be negative but that's probably down to an installation error. Over or under tensioned belt. There should be little to no wear on the back side of the belt.

You replaced the tension spring right?

If it's just a shit belt im glad cause I chose an oem belt over the gates on my lemons car

Installation was done by me and it was done correctly. I replaced the tensioner, spring, water pump and belt all at the same time

And here is the valve it bent

Weird, the back of the belt is worn through the blue felt after only 5k miles. That indicates a tension issue imo

an m50 is way better anyway, proper send off for that m20 :P

Going out with a blaze of glory lol. Really the only reason that I am going M50 instead of a Ford 302 is that my friend just bought an e36 parts car and is giving me a really good deal on all the parts from that car for around $500

Starting to get to work on testing out my donor M50. Started with a compression test today and only got to one cylinder due to a dead battery but I got 190 psi on the first cylinder. There was quite a bit of oil in the spark plug holes which I assume is a very bad valve gasket. Also the psi being so much I would assume is due to that oil bumping it up but I'll go back tomorrow to test the others.

Also the engine isn't running right. Probably just some leaks in the intake track or sensors that went bad after not being run for about 4 years. So its running super rich as you can see

So I've got everything ready to be pulled for the M20 and about close to pull the M50.

This is what I started with

And this is pretty much where I'm at minus the harness

Now onto the important part, What color should I paint the valve cover and engine plastics on the M50. I was thinking the same blue that was on the M20. Didn't originally like it but I got accustom to it and I'd like to carry some of the soul from the M20 over to the new heart.

              Pic for reference

Haven't updated in a while but here's a big one.

Got both my engine's pulled and getting slow and steady process.

Got my car towed back home after school ended by my friend and his Tundra

Then a couple weeks later went back to school to pull the motor for the swap and because I am poor and can't afford a truck, I used the second best thing. A 2000 Chrysler 300m I use as my daily beater

Took the valve cover off and damn does this thing look clean

Doing some refreshing of gaskets and seals and giving it a nice paint job.

Getting some wiring done so I can delete stuff that doesn't work or I don't need, like ABS, Washer fluid, A/C, and other misc stuff

                My exhaust set up

Also started a job as an apprentice/ shop bitch at a euro Shop here in Ohio

you drove around with an engine sitting on your back seat?

That is the dumbest shit I've seen all year. Dangerous.

It's not like it was running or anything... I'm sure it was wearing a seatbelt! Safety first!
