240z backup car for M10 turbo project

Heres my new wheels to drive while my car is on blocks getting fixed. Its a 72 240z rebuilt by stan cotton (z restorer), he ended up being a family friend. He put in a rebuilt bored 280z motor with fuel injection (~3.0l) with intake and catless 3.25" exhaust. Its also lowered and has adjustable shocks. Every bit of wiring is new, and it has a modern fuse box/relay. Normally he sells them for 5-10k but i got this one for $1700 because its unfinished and he knows the fam. check it out

the thing is really moves too, factory says 168lbft 172hp

you lucky man. I wish I could find one that looks so good for that kind of price. I'd love to buy one for my father. He had two of them in his younger years (a yellow and orange one).

is that roof what BMW calls a "california top"? Saw one on a Canadian 318ti once. Totally sweet ride, though.

God I hate you west coast guys with your "no rust" cars. It's such bullshit.

I was up in Independence/Albany Oregon a month ago, the number of rust free aircooled VWs I saw up there made me cry.

Nice 240z man! There are a bunch of us Z enthusiasts running around on R3v.

Is that tarp on top covering up one of those aftermarket sunroofs?

When my dad and the rest of the family first came to the US, their first car was Blue Datsun Z. I thought about finding a blue 240z and restoring and giving to my dad as a gift to bring back some good old memories.

i had a 280 with a chevy 350 and a powerglide. That thing would leave your ass at the stop sign if you didnt hold onto it .No replacement for displacement i use to say. Until i got my little 1.8. Gas consumption is definitly another biggie

Wow, he must not be a very good z-car mechanic. i see a hacked ass job on the exhaust (stock y-pipe into like a crush bent 2.5" maybe exhaust, 3.25" would be the dumbest thing i have ever heard.) i mean c'mon. atleast put on a motorsport auto y-pipe and 2.5" exhaust. There is absolutely no way that thing is putting those power numbers down. you got a decent deal for 1700 bucks, i dunno who he sells that thing for 5k to, must be idiots. nice car, and clean it up/modify it correctly. dont hack it up like the p.o. did.

Haha, I can always count on you Oliver. Classic...

You have to admit that aside from the exhaust its not too bad.

We need to go for a drive when you get back...
