Fake ass, light output hindering smoked ellipsoids...

A while ago I asked Brant to PS some smoked hellas on my e30 but I really wanted to see them in person before I dropped $300 on a car thatI never drive at night. I used Lamin-x's new "light" smoked film, their originalsmoked was too dark, vlad has it on his m3.

Alright, that's it. I've seen all I need to see.

I'm doing my ellips and fog lights with that. Where did you get it from and how much?

I can't remember how much the kit was, came with 4 rounds and 2 fogs
that I didn't use but it was cheap. www.lamin-x.com, ask for the
smoked special edition. This is just a temporary thing for me as I will be
picking up some real smoked hellas soon.

That's cool, I just can't justify spending $300-400 for a set of headlights.

I'm cool with just throwing down for the Lamin-X. The only people that will ever know or even care that they aren't real smoked headlights are all the little brand-whores on this site.

and maybe the people who care a bit about the light output. it looks ok, but is it really any different than spraypainting your headlights black,??? NO. but i do agree, if the car isnt driven much at night, for the price it looks ok.
and yes, you can tell the difference.
I could be a bit biased though.

Any chance finding a decent set of grills yet, Mikey?

Yeah, I'm curious to hear how the light output compares to real Smoked lights. Maybe once you swap to the real Hellas, you could keep one in and take an in-car light output comparison shot?

              Looks good though!

trust me, ive done alot worse unsafe crap on my cars in earlier days- heck, back in the minitruck days, i used to ride around with those stupid plexiglass cover over my lights night or day, couldnt see nothing at night, but I was cool!

As I stated above, this was installed to see how smoked lights
would look on my car in person, PS is ok but this is better, there is no question about it, these will hinder light output no matter what, I haven't driven my car at night in quite some time so it is not an issue for me. I think they look better than real smoked.

Thanks, it's all good, I expected some repsonses to be like yours and I don't recommend these if you drive your car at night, I haven't even tested them at night yet, maybe I'll just get some HID fogs

your car looks amazing Ed! I say get chrome grille b/cause your wheels are too shiney, they need something to complement them.

Smoked laminx is fine at night. Do they reduce light output? Of course, but nothing you will notice unless you have sealed beams or crappy US ellipsoids. If you have HID's these are pefect.
                          Looks good BTW
