Traded my 3.73 for a 2.93, gearing is SO much better. Feels like it actually has power now that I can actually use each gear.

IF you can find another NV intake cam, theres a mod of some sort to give you a bump in power. I have Vanos so thats all I know about the NV stuff....

            I had an M50nv in my 91 318is for a while.

Was definitely fun, but when I upgraded to the S52 I was much much happier.

Your thread makes me want to find a stock E30 to work with.

            Good stuff!
            My previous build (currently E30-less)

You move the intake cam to the exhaust side and use an s50 exhaust cam as your intake cam.

Isn't the s50 cam a bit longer and has to be milled down to fit correctly?

Not sure. No vibrations or anything like that but I have yet to get back under the car and check if its still torqued.

                      Tiny update:

Installed my red46 skidplate which I needed very much apparently judging by the fresh scrapes on the oil pan. Didn't realize how hefty this thing would be, its some serious protection

Also finally took it back to the glass shop to get the windshield resealed, so far the floor has stayed dry. I get to have a carpet again

Back with actual work on the car!

Big ol' stack of parts. Rotors, pads, braided stainless lines, fuel line, strut top mounts, thermostat housing and a thermostat.

                        Got the first one done.

Was super quick but I started to question some things while I was in there...

Liiiiike..why my tires rub the frame rail at full lock

Or like how my coolant was making this neat puddle..

Anyways, got the other three done without any hassle except almost twisting this brake line into pieces on the last wheel

I only got around to installing the brakes and the fuel lines this weekend so the top hats and thermostat will have to wait. Here's how I left the car

Also some random pics of how the car sits right now

Ghetto fabulous interior because of a mysterious water leak

And the cause for all my troubles

I've got garagistic 80A poly bushings for the subframe, rtabs, diff, and control arm bushings in the mail as well. Lots of work ahead

Awesome build, looks extremely promising with lovely commentary.

Quick question - did your Sachs strut top mounts come with dust caps?

Mine didn't and the OEM BMW ones don't fit :-(
