My Dads E34 M5 "Barn Find"

Figure it was worth the share, how's it going. After looking at Butler's E34 Build it got me thinking of M car's that are probably just sitting around not being enjoyed. Well anyways, I was driving threw my old neighborhood and caught a glimpse of a e34 M5. I had totally forgot about the car, but turned around and snapped some photos and sent them off to my Dad. Little did I know my dad would make a deal with the owner, I stopped by his house today and the car was in his driveway. After a couple hours of cleaning, it's coming out quite nice to say the least. The interesting part to all this is Reggie Jackson and some other well known baseball dude owned the car. EDIT: Mark Mcgwire. Notice the little baseball symbol on the trunk?

Anyways, its a Rarer 93' model which has the MotorSport Door handles and mirrors. It was FAR from a cheap deal, however cleaned up I can see it worth maybe $12-$14k which gives a little bit of space to work with. Going to need paint on the trunk lid, along with some mechanical fix's. The good thing is the interior is close to 9/10 shape! No common door panel pealing!

    Onto the pics,

After cleaning for 2 1/2 hours

You can see the small spot on the hood he started waxing (Above drivers headlight)

        Woooo S38 powaarr.

Very few things compare to the feeling of finding a diamond in the rough like that.

Nice pickup! How many miles are on it? Has it had any headwork done yet?

Thank You! Has 180k miles and yup, the head has been rebuilt along with new camshafts (with receipts). A lot of receipts show it being serviced at Dinan in Mountain View (Much like Butlers M5). It's crazy what a wash did for the paint (and no the paint isn't wet in those pic's), hopefully it continues to clean up nicely.

nice, it should be good to go for another 120k since the head was done. They are a ton of fun and sound amazing with exhaust

Wow, that paint needed wax badly. Curious to see what a good buff could bring out.

DUDE! Holy crap! Nice work.. that car looks like its in really good shape. I'm happy and totally shocked to see another one pop up and get saved. There are TONS of little bits to replace, which could nickle & dime someone to death.

I hope you get to enjoy it! I want kids, almost solely for the experience of doing car stuff together, haha. Anyway, I'll be watching! Keep us updated. :)

Great finding! I absolute love the e34 M5 is my all time, affordable and favorite BMW!

Keep tje car! They are going up in value! They are builded like a tank and share very closely the front end design and as well the dashboard like the e30's

Id suggest having an experienced detailer try wet sanding the trunk before painting it. You would be surprised :)
