770 MTechnic II Appearance Package *Pic Heavy*

I came across this E30 that needed saving. DAMN....did it need help. I am the 3rd owner. I ran the VIN and it came back with 1 accident. Over looking the car the only thing that stands out is the front bumper looks tweaked. As far as the rest of the car the top was torn, interior trashed, suspension blown, exhaust has rust holes and misfire on cylinder 6. Body is in good shape overall but has small dings here and there. No rust which is great. PO put some type of glue on chipped paint areas . I do not know why he did not get touchup paint. Unbelievable that he ran it into the ground.

    Crack on lower valance.

    Some dings

You can see the glue in this pic.

WOW that thing is trashed, shame to see a car in that condition. I always wondered what owners looked like who trashed cars to hell this bad, and then I bought my 318i Convertible. Mold on door panels and dash, never washed or vacuumed, top ripped in half. It was a guy in his 50's who drank maybe 3 beer's literally on his porch while I checked out the car. Not to mention it was only maybe 11am or so and like you I was also the 3rd owner.

By the looks of your Mtech 1, you'll have no problem saving this one. Enjoy it, looking forward to updates.

I may need your help with the automatic top if you have not converted it to manual. PO took it all apart.

I did a compression on the all cylinders. All had 150 except for cylinder six. There was work done to it recently because it had new gaskets. Took the cylinder head and noticed a big indention in piston. Also noticed 2 new rockers were replaced.

I really like your green interior. Different and suits your car very well.

I've done both, depending whats wrong with your top it may or may not be worth converting to manual. I have all the parts to convert it if it comes to that though. I remember when I had my Mtech.. The electric top worked maybe 6 full cycles for me and the day I was oiling it to prevent it from breaking, it broke on me. Man was I pissed, the teeth on the motor that drives the top up and down stripped most likely from neglect of lubrication over the years. I ended up disconnecting the motor, but left the tonneau cover motor connect. The end result would be I'd fold the top up and down by hand, but hold the soft top button to drive the tonneau lid down.

The Bentley doesn't have wiring diagrams for Electric top's, but if your interested I can email them to you.

Same here. It's the gear on the top lid motor that is worn. I never bothered to fix it. I just operate it manually.

Do you have the aftermarket bracket attached to the motor? I met a guy a few year back, the first automatic top I had seen in person. To me a must have even though they break. The guy said he never had any issues. He lubed the motors and all moving joints once a year I believe

I don't personally, but if it broke like my Mtech did I would likely go this route: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271934045660...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I should really oil my red cars top tomorrow, I'm getting scared talking about broken electric tops..
