    2016 Bimmerfest West Photos

Since I haven't seen a thread yet, this is it. Post up your bimmerfest photos here. If I'm posting in the wrong section, tow me.

Here are my favorites. Didn't get to walk around the regular parking lot much unfortunately, but saw some cool cars in the battle of the bimmers section and vendor area.

    First pictures of mine :D

    Now the rest

For me seeing this car made the whole event worth it.

This was also WAY cool to see in person. Many fond memories of NFSMW...

It's past and story aside, this thing is absolutely wild. Wonder if it actually gets raced? Or if it's just for show... is it even finished? Regardless, impressive amount of work and the result is undeniably unique and striking.

    Favorite wheels of the event

    Second favorite wheels

Walked up behind this car and turned to the engine bay... hello ls1!!

Never seen a turbo manifold like this

Another of mine on the left :)

And that's it. The common theme was overfenders/rivet on fenders/some form of widebody fender flares etc. and it was boring. Lots of wings/ducktails too (also boring and stupid IMO on anything less than a true racecar). So many e90s with the same stuff over and over again... Or all the "racecars" that'll never see a minute of competitive driving. Too many stickers, too much vinyl. For me the event was fun because I went with friends, brought a grill, gave my car a good drive for the first time in months and was treated with the mclaren and m3 gtr.

    Enjoy!

Went Saturday and was happy to see overcast.

Here are my favorite cars, couple of the same cars with a different perspective.

That red Vert is easily one of the more popular cars on Instagram right now. I kinda want to post that picture you took up for sanitys sake

I dont understand why. It looks terrible imo (sorry if the owner is on r3v and sees this). Though I think it does a great job of representing current trends.... and not in a good way.

There mustve been a requirement set by the event coordinators that any car displayed at a vendor booth must have overfenders to be allowed in.

Im seeing alot of the E30 scene kids ( people that have e30s on Instagram but I've never seen on here or really even at a meet) that are super hyped over it. I think its because most of them come from a Nissan or honda or Toyota background in which things like pointless over fenders (its a vert its not a race car) external oil coolers which i will admit i do like (hate all you want but when well done they look good)
I don't think the way most people with e30s do them looks good having the lines go though an empty headlight bucket looks like shit.

The funny thing is i like JDM stuff i even like over fenders when they fit, like so

but the fact that the kit was designed for a late body car and the people who built this car didn't even do some basic research to realize that verts have different body than sedans up until 91, says something and then the fact that they obviously were like "who gives a fuck lets just slap thus kit on here and hope nobody notices" really rubs me the wrong way. And I'm sure some one will come on here and be like "oh why are you hating" but look if you build a car to make a statement but its built like shit don't be surprised if the old guard tears it apart. sorry for the rant.
edit: and yes this is me I am self aware

The vert is an auto and it is a 100% trainwreck. The RB kit is not made for verts OR metal bumper cars and it's both of those things, you can see how shitty it goes together here -

The worst part about it, imo, is the fact that he's running a fucking 205 tire. Insert "Hah, gayyyyy" meme here.

I believe some famous drifty guy built that with some buddies in two weeks or so. I think he might have been able to get away with the rear of that kit if they had trimmed the fender horizontally right before the bumper begins.

                              agreed. and auto.............

as much as I try not to care about all these "scene kids" and all that, it still kinda bugs me that all this social media posturing has made its way so deeply into the culture around these cars. I go to my cars and tools to get away from all that nonsense. Can't wait until the fad is over and e30s are just "regular" cool again :P
