    Hi from Sweden!

Hi, new member here. Great to see such a vast community honoring what might be one of the greatest production cars ever made =)

I recently pulled the trigger on this original m-tech 1 1987 and planning on restoring it to its former glory.

    Great to be here!

Welcome and that is a super nice pick up! I wish it was that easy to grab an original tech 1 car stateside. What's first on the agenda for her?

        Thanks!

Yupp, original tech-1 made in dec 1986, heres the specs:

        88
LT/ALY WHEELS 300 ZENTRALVERRIEGELUNG ELEKTRISCH 333 M TECHNIC SPORTPAKET 339 SATIN CHROME 350 WAERMESCHUTZGLAS GRUEN, RUNDUM 400 SLIDING SUNROOF MANUAL 464 SKIBAG 481 SPORT SEATS F DRIVER/FRONT PASSENGER 494 SEAT HEATING F DRIVER/FRONT PASSENGER 498 HEADRESTS IN REAR, MECHANIC. ADJUSTABLE 562 MAP READING LIGHT 704 M SPORT SUSPENSION 708 M-SPORT LEATHER STEERING WHEEL II 816 Schweden-Ausfuehrung 850 ADD FUEL TANK FILLING FOR EXPORT

It has some minor rust issues that needs to be taken care of. Also a work over on the paint but hopefully not a re-paint. Other than that, maybe some new suspention, a new exhaust system and new bushings. It has only been driven 2000km the last 10 years so I changed allt the fluids, air filter and spark plugs.

A real barn find, sadly not by me. I paid good money for it but as I understand it's not a common car so I'm hoping it's worth it.

Well I guess if it's easy or not is a matter of definition. Did the US market ever sell the tech-1?

              nope

there were a few grey market imports, apparently, but they are extremely few and far between

Yes, that's correct. Everything is stock including the steering wheel. Used Saphir's Renovateur and it came out pretty good but ultimately, it's getting new leather soon. Just ordered a OEM leather m-tech 1 shift knob, believe or not, I accidentally threw away the original one =(

Good catch by the way ;)

Hej, it could be worse - you could be living in England!

                              Every time I see a Tech1, I always regret getting a Tech2 - it's a good thing they're fairly rare!

Are they headlight washers missing, or just not installed in the photos?
