cliffs notes: M47 diesel crank, bored and stroked to 2100+ cc, custom rods + pistons, and a ton of extas (cams, injectors, flywheel, M50 lifters, special valve springs, intake work) thrown in for good measure. Metric Mechanic in richland, mo was put it together.

In the most general sense, the engine was set up to be about 2/3rds of a stock S50, with the idea being that the e30 318is is about (roughly) 2/3rds the weight of an E36 M3. The performance isn't quite at that level, but it's terrifying enough for this fuddy duddy,

I need to tune the engine and figure out what to do re: the AFM, chip etc.
I'm on a stock chip now, except the redline has been set to 7600 rpms. So, the engine itself is kind of a starting point.

                      Oh. My. Fuck.

That is a serious M42, and I want it. If you ever are going to sell it, please let me know.

And where in NY are you? I was in Hempstead at Hofstra a few days ago, pissed if I missed out on seeing this E30...

Woow..I would have thought the lack of contrast would make it look bleh, but it looks fucking mean! Do a photoshoot ASAP (with engine bay shots ).
