    325i cabriolet 1987 (UK)

Starting a build thread on my recently acquired 325i cab.

Zinnobar Red over Pearl Beige and on just 71k miles. Bodywork is lovely. Has the usual rubber and gasket issues you'd expect for an old girl of 31 years but nothing that a little nip and tuck wouldn't sort out.

The car comes from the island of Guernsey in the English Channel, so has never been driven in anger and looks to have been cherished it its 2 owner lifetime.

When I bought the car a few weeks ago, it was after being in storage for 14 years and all hoses, brakes and tyres were replaced. The car was also serviced but since the service manual shows the last inspection being in 2004 and on 56k miles (Incl cambelt change), I'm going for some full fat jobs to get her up to 2018 standard and hopefully future proof a little.

From this point on she'll be driven as a family car around 4k miles a year, serviced regularly and shall want for nothing :)

So, step one is for me to embark on the following jobs...

    - Inspection 2
    - New cambelt, waterpump and thermostat
    - New Auxilary and Power Steering belts
    - New headbolts and gasket
    - Complete Bilstein B3 and B4 suspension setup (front springs shot so doing the lot)
    - New fuel lines
    - New windscreen weatherstrip
    - New convertible top plastic caps
    - New front seatbelt receivers
    - New bonnet soundproofing
    - Fix front drivers seat angle-forward mechanism
    - New SGS rear trunk strut
    - New rear weather strips
    - Fix temperature gauge
    - Fix central locking module
    - Waxoil incl sills
    - Replace shifter bushes
    - Various new suspension bushes

After that little lot I'm going to tackle the folding roof gaskets over winter!

Nice car! I bet that's quite the find in the UK, with rust issues and whatnot being prevalent.

Thanks! I think I got lucky and found one that's been cherished and driven at no more than 40mph (Guernsey speed limit) it whole life :D

Nice cabby, and nice to see other person from London here.

Need to make a thread about my new M42 Touring!
