First of all, the picture you showed us that has the BMW stamp on it is nothing but a fender liner. It has -zero- to do with the "bodykit".

    Secondly,
There is a huge difference between OE bmw parts and "dealer-installed options." Hell, the U.S. glass moonroof "option" wasn't even made by BMW and there is no BMW part number or symbol on it.

That bodykit is not original BMW. While I still have my doubts, it may have been a dealer installed item. Individual dealerships can do whatever they want as far as "options" go.

The kits look nothing alike, its like comparing an M3 to an Erebuni.

I think it looks very similar. And from the distance the pics are taken at, if done right, you cant tell the M3 "kit" from an Erebuni. My 2 cents. Im drunk so Im feeling good.

The 'bodykit' in the pictures josh posted is completely different from the 'bodykit' on the car mike posted. The sides are similiar, but as you can see the moldings are completely different. In addition, the front and rear are completely different.

That being said, jesus mike, take a breath. You said, and I quote "BMW orig. options back then." And they weren't, so don't freak out about it because you were wrong. Who really cares anyway?

Dealerships have free reign to make independent deals with whoever they want as far as offering extra options. Look at Dinan in the U.S. Those are NOT BMW parts and are not even available from every U.S. dealer; only the dealers that decided to have a formal agreement with the company. And Dinan is a widespread example. Any dealer can offer any part they find from any independent source as an 'option.'

My car, brand new in 1986, came with an " M Package " directly from the dealer. Do you know how many motorsport parts were included in that package? Nothing..

Funny, that "aerodynamik" bodykit on that red car in brochure can't be found on realoem either ETK.

I've seen 2 of those kits and they are far from be like the one in that black car.
                      Current:

                      BMW 320i 2d 2.0 m20 -88
                      BMW 325i Cabriolet 2.5 m50 -88
                      BMW 316i touring 1.6 m40 -90

just because it wasnt offered in the U.S., doesnt mean it wasnt offered here.
I am cool, and in the end, could really care less. I am not trying to sell it, or promote the body kit for that matter, just posting pics of something that was on a car when the guy bought it brand new from the dealer.

to say the kits are far from being close is a bit of a stretch, but yes, they def. arent the same.

and I wont back off of what i said, It WAS an orig. BMW option that the guy got when he bought the car.

I know every dealership is different, but the dealership I work at here doesnt offer, and from the questions I have asked, has never offered non BMW approved parts. only non bmw stuff is AC Schnitzer.--and that is BMW approved

in the end, who really cares. Iam not upset that your disagreeing Chris, Its all good.

It's cool. After re-reading my second post, I could see how I could have come off like a dick. Didn't mean it that way. The "first of all" and "secondly" bullshit's gotta go.

Cheers for rare items (even if their not OE ;-) )
