There is a practical limit to the handling you will get with 14's because of their massive sidewalls and their limited widths though. Honestly, besides the weight and girth, my E36 handling blows the doors off my E30 and I think its partially because of the 235/40-17 tires. Not the only reason of course because the suspension is pretty different in the rear, but I know it helps.

Word, wish i knew where the article was that i read, but 17s significantly increased lap times consistantly at an AutoX track compared to smaller sized with bigger sidewalls.

Just a little FYI, not telling you how to mod your car or anything, just throwing it out there because tires are the most important thing on a suspension set-up. You kinda cheaped out where it counts.
