318is in Track Rat Mode (56K death)

I bought some wheels and tires from good old Devon about a month ago for a weekend track event at PIR. They spray painted black (Devon got bored) and I'm planning to go to my friends house to use his dad's bead blaster to clean them up. Then I'll probablly get them powdercoated black and buy some center caps. Anways, everything went well and I found out how much fun the track is. So, I'm going again this Saturday and Sunday :D

Anyways here's some shots I took today, I got a Canon 30D about a week ago or so and this was the first time I had a chance to go out and shoot. Luckily for me there was actually clouds out and about today. Some of the angles are repetitive but I didn't have enough time to reposition the car before I ran out of light. I'll be shooting more in the future and I'm hoping to pick up a nice wide angle lens sometime before summer, but we will see.

This was a few months ago but I haven't posted it up and I think the colors are cool.

We had a nice sunset so I took a shot overlooking the golf course by our house before I got home.

The lighting wasn't ideal in some of the shots because there's a small mountain that eats up all the light when the sun is setting. I got home from eating some food and was like I might as well wash my car really quick and see what I can come up with.

    Hope you like them.

Your car is looking pretty good dude. I didn't realize your rear valance is all black. Any plans to paint match it halfway like it comes from the factory?

Are you talking about the wheels in my sig? If so they're OZ Racing Monte Carlo's. I used a Canon 300D with the kit lens on the interior shot.

And Devo, I don't really have any plans to paint it as of now. It doesn't really bother me all that much, probablly because that's the only way I've seen it though :D

Yeah I know what wheels those are , I have 2 sets of them myself .

I was trying to be funny and was refering to the different tones/shades of silver on your car . :D

And is the 300D the camera that you mention in the original post ?
You typed "30D" but I assumed it was a different camera since you say that pis is several months old .

Just curious because I'm in the market for a new digital and I want something I can change the exposure time on to get effects like that .

Haha ok! I wonder the same thing myself, it drives me crazy everytime I notice it which is mainly in pictures.

All the shots besides the interior one were taken with a 30D. The interior shot was taken with a Rebel/300D. U really like the 30D so far, it's capable of more then I can throw at it as of right now, so I will be using it for quite a while!

Your compositions are poor in the fact that you face the car out of the frame in every shot, creating a tension. The car should almost always be leading into the frame, not out. I think those shots could benefit from a larger aperture as well.

Overall, nice though. I dig the 3 tone sterling silver :)

Yeah, I definitely see what you mean now that you mention it. I can blame a lot of that on the way I positioned the car, because I pretty much just parked it at an angle then got out to shoot. I had it set so I could shoot towards the part of the mountains you can see in the 2nd shot, so I didn't move around and get enough angles.

Thanks for the input though, next time I go out I plan on showing up a bit earlier to get the angles I want to shoot worked out before it's too late. It's been a while since I actually went out to do a shoot, so I need to clean off some of the dust :)

Haha nope. I should have mentioned that was in my dads E36 M3. For whatever reason I was thinking it was shot in my car at the time (I did similar shots in it) but it wasn't.

I'm trying to learn to take better pictures so apologies in advance if this sounds stupid, but what do you mean the car faces out of the frame in every picture?

Obviously you don't mean that the car should be facing the camera head-on in every picture. Do you mean the wheels should be turned towards the camera to make it "face the camera?"

No, this picture is the perfect example. The nose of the car is pointed right to the left, which happens to be the end of the shot right next to it. It should be pointing to the right so it has all that empty space to it's side.
