    I'm still a bimmer guy!

I am selling my ETA currently, and was looking around, my parents wanted me to get an Audi, and were ready to buy, but it fell through last minute. So, I was looking around all my usual places, and found this jewel at the IAA auction. Hope you enjoy!

I have been checking around for front end parts, which I should have something by this weekend.

New update, front end is off!

I have a dad that was a mechanic for 30 years, I can handle this, and I will be documenting my progress along the way!

I hope he has access to a frame rack.

Yeah, it looks much worse in the photo's than it actually is, the front of the frame is just a tiny bit squished, but we have access to all the tools to fix it, otherwise I wouldn't have taken this on. Anyone have any write-ups on an M30 IX's? or the engine out of a 740I? I'm not sure what the engine is called, but I could get either quite cheaply, so I am exploring options.

M60 or M62 = 4.0 and 4.4 V8s. I dunno if THAT would work with an ix... I'd just convert the thing to RWD!!

If your looking for more power, you shouldn't have bought an IX

From my research, im pretty sure that the ix's drivetrain is not able to hold that much power, but if you are able to pull it off, i would be very impressed... goodluck with the project

Well, A Yugo could handle a V-8, as long as you didn't abuse it or burn out constantly. It is just a maybe at this point about the engine swap, its more of a convenience thing, while I'm swapping front ends, I can easily pull the motor. It has a very slight leak in the rear main seal which I will replace. An M30 is still a good possibility.

My guess would be under $1000-probably more like $500. Cars like that go thru the auction very cheap.

Good luck McCoolidge on fixing it up.

I'de say prob around $200, somthing like that would go dirty cheap.

You've got your work cut out for you man, have fun.
                          If I were you I wouldn't mess with a v8, I'de go and make her a AWD m50.

From what I've seen of auctions around here, most buyers are from small used car dealerships and don't want a project car. They just want cars they can sell tomorrow. So a quick clean up is the most they want to do. Maybe an oil change if they feel like it.
