true, but having a 2.5L bottom end (the common engine conversion for the S14) isn't saying it has all the other work done to it to make the Sport Evo power (intake, FIs, TBs, Cams, Head work, Header etc)
I'm still willing to bet the S50 is faster as 250hp vs 238hp (Evo III), not to mention the nice torque curve of the inline 6 :)Leave a comment:

Reelizmpro, are you still considering doing it? If you are, go for it...it is money well spent...you won't miss the s14 at all:)
By the way I categorize "purist" as stock everything even to the type of air, fuel, oil filter, plugs used, etc..if you change a gearknob, headlight bulb or bigger wheels, or different make of tires, it is no longer "pure". I think a lot of e30M3 owners would fall into these category:)
If everyone wants to know, the entire conversion run about $5.5-6k that is if you sell your motor for at least $3500Leave a comment:

I think its safe to say that most guys are using Evo parts when they jump to a 2.5, correct?Leave a comment:

I had to make a new name on s14, because I would just get flamed in every thread for basterdizing my m3 lol.Leave a comment:

Good stuff Bing. As long as you're happy. I'm sure an S50 would be a better daily driven engine too. That's why I was contemplating a swap a few years ago but changed my mind. Also just to clarify, just because an S14 is stroked doesn't automatically mean it has a lot of HP. So when you say 2.5 S14, that really isn't saying much other than it has increased displacement, unless we're specifically talking about the Sport Evo engine.Leave a comment:

If it makes you happy, its all that matters. Im done preaching the purist shit. If I dont like it, I dont do it, but Im not about to tell someone else what to do with their car. Its like other things in life/government/religion. Also, mine just went up in price. ;) The car looks very nice.

The thing is you upset the balance of the car. Horsepower and torque is not everything. Then again, this debate will never end since it's all about how the car is setup and how you drive it. I saw a very interesting track video where an E30 M3 2.5L chased up a Corvette which had obviously much more power, you could see it storm out on the straights yet the M3 caught up and eventually passed him.
Btw, looks like a very clean swap. The car looks very clean aswell. Enjoy it!Leave a comment:

Maybe his personal cars are a little more "tweaked". Either that or you havent been in a S50/2 powered E30. I'm not saying I passed the car like it was standing still, but it was no big thing to pull on him down the straight at BIR.Leave a comment:
