I'm wondering however, is it terribly wise to post your VIN number on a public internet forum? That's your car's social security number.

I don't see the logic of this, never have. Please enlighten me. Let's say I am a troll, I have person X's vin and plates. What can I do that harms them?

I am not kidding Please do not take this as anything but a request for information as I am without a clue as to what someone could do.

In an eBay auction one posts pictures/vin/plate#s/detailed info of their car. I am unaware of anything happening but scammers using the pictrures for their own fraudulent sales which is annoying but hardly really harms the owner.

the "b" in the fourth spot in your vin means your car was (zweite wahl)! you got ripped off.

I cant see how this could be a bad thing considering it's in plain sight of anyone that is able to look through your windshield. Maybe I'll just pimp some double black limo tint on the front and hang my head out the side when I drive?
