Some pics from the Tail of the Dragon Drive.

Well here are some pics I took on the Tail of the dragon we did here in Knoxville area Saturday. 4 Bimmers, and a honda showed up. Micheal with his 318i, my 88 325is, an E46 m3 and another E46, and MMagnuson's Stripped out auto cross prepped honda. Michael took some pics of every one's cars so hopefully he'll post them. I didn't get any pics on the Dragon it self as it was to windy to try to take a pictue. But it was fun listening to every one's tires squealing going around the Dragon

How 'bout some tall tales about your adventures on the Tail?!

What was it like? I've never driven on it - but this summer, I will.

Well If I rember correctly the 6th picture down the corner up ahead is were I got the rear end of my car loose  We were maybe doing 80 or so up hill, I went in too hot and hit the brakes mid way threw and it Threw off the balance and around came the rear, I just let up on the gas and it came back around. The Dragon it self wasn't to long, but it was just Pure switch backs, Blind corners, and lots of fun. I think that last picture was on the dragon itself, as we got stuck behind traffic three times. All the bikers on the sides of the roads taking picturs gave us Thumbs ups as we came flying by. The Dragon deffinetly tests you and your cars ability. I'm ready to drive it again but this time without a bent wheel on the car.( I tossed my Bent hock on for the drive as it's not fun going threw corners with a 6 inch rim on one corner and a 7.5" rim on the other).
It deffinatly was fun Hanging with the E46 m3 in the corners but on the straights he just pulled away.
Hopefully Micheal will post his picks up soon ;)

Let me know next time you take a drive int he Ga mountains, and I'll come down. I know a lot of those roads are fun to drive on. My mom works in North gerogia and when her car was broken down I drove here to work and would just drive around for an hour or so wasting time :P

Eric (e9nine) 'n' I are gonna meet up in May, most likely, for a drive in northern GA there --- would you be able to come down then, Ely?

What were the cops like, on the Dragon? How fast were you guys going? Did you ever get above the speed limit, or out of, say, 2nd gear?

Just wondering how physically tight the roads are --- I know driving up near Suches in GA, you rarely get out of 2nd, if you're looking for power. You can't go fast enough to really use 3rd.

We never saw a Single cop, we were hitting 70-80 on straights, on the dragon we were going over the speed limit. Every one said they ran it in third(even Micheal with the m10), The corners wern't terrible tight but were tight enough. On the Skyway we were going into most corners at 60,and on the dragon we were probally doing 40. I've driven some roads that were more fun but they were a lot shorter. This whole entire drive was just corner after corner with some little straights inbetween.
Oh ya I'm sure I could make it in may to North Georgia, I'm only about 8 mins from the Gerogia border(ussualy run into Ga on Friday for gas)

I still have a big Road Trip in mind somewhere in the future. Maybe this summer.... who knows. :) Meet some of the SE ( not-FL ) crew. 8)

Dont tempt me.... I'll ditch school right now, pack my bags and I'll be knocking at your door in a day or two :P

Seriously though, I would definetly be down for something like this in the summer. I have to take care of some maintenance issues so the car is 100% for a road trip.

My father is also another one interested in riding the Dragon...... cant stop talking about it since I showed him the website. He'd probably take the white e30..... or the Z4 he says he's getting by summer time
