Not sure what to make of that comment.

My friend has more practical knowledge of the E30 platform & works on his own E30 - knows what to look for when buying them.

And I now see that there was an "M3" missing in my earlier post :)

No, my first BMW was a E34 525 (sold), the second E39 523 (sold) and the
third is an E39 M5 that is twin supercharged and alot of fun:

The E39 M5 is my daily driver during summer time - it´s approx. 600hp and 700Nm. I have taken it to the Ring but it´s just too heavy for track and too expensive with all the mods.

Good luck. Nice car. Are you sure it wouldnt be better to find a shitty crashed example since its going to be for track duties? Seems a shame to me, and Im not even speaking as a purist. Either way, car looks pretty put together.

My E30 M3 wasn´t that expensive and I´ll also sell the engine&gearbox and possibly more stuff to offset costs.

    Making a track toy - E30 M3

    Hi,

I just got my E30 M3. It´s a white 1989 model. Here is a pic from when I was purchasing it in Germany - the car I got is in the middle:

The guy on the pic is a friend of mine that has more E30 knowledge than me - I brought him with me as a consultant :)

The car is completely stock but will now be transformed into a track toy because I got the Ring virus after my visits to the Nurburgring.

(s14 purists please stop reading here and hit the "back" button)

The S14 (or the hamster as I call it :) ) will be pulled out and a Supercharged S50 put in place. I´ll also have the suspension and brakes upgraded. Race seats and cage will also be added.

The result will hopefully be an excellent track toy that will give lots of enjoyment for the next few years on the Ring - where it will be kept.

Anyways - hope this forum will be helpful and hopefully I´ll be able to contribute to it in the future when my E30 knowledge increases.
On the other hand - if anyone needs some E39 M5 info - I can be of help. My other BMW is a twin supercharged E39 M5 ;)
