RS4 is not my cup of tea due to styling. I used to like it but now it seems slab sided. I wonder when Audi will be giving us the 2.7 TDi's now that we have clean diesel's and VW will give us back the mad Toureag TDi's.

Damn you guys are making me want to keep it. Unfortunately at this point in my life its not feasible to keep the car, and maintain it the way it deserves. A new owner will find it much more enjoyable than I will. I picked up the 325i as my permanent gig now - trying to start the retirement fund, family fund, aka all the life funds. I've already bought and entire stereo makeover, full euro tan leather interior, 3.73, iS cutout style front, and I guess thats all. Its got 130k miles on it, so not to bad for the year. I am looking for an Mtech 1 rear spoiler and then I am probably going to be done for a while. I have an M60 with a blown HG that I have had for about two years now collecting dust...might try to do something with that in the next year or so.
The 968 is a fabulous car, and anyone that ever has a chance to drive/own one should. They are completely different that 944 Turbos or 944 S2's which they are quite often compared to. It has the driveability of an E36 M3, but with a few basic modifications it can be quicker than one. Mine is bone stock now with the exception of a chip (7800rpm Redline :) ) and airbox modification. Previously it had a full exhaust (catless), Koni 2812 coilover suspension, M030 (30mm/19mm) sway bars, Recaro SRD's (now has tan leather Recaro Speeds), Spraco Ring steering wheel, 18X8/10 Champion RG5's, and a diet to get it right at 2852lbs. I am asking $10,500 for it, but an definantly negotiable. Has about $3-5k in maintenece in the past year with the intention of me keeping the car for forever, but life got in the way :).
A lot of people underestimate the 968. It is nearly as fast as the RS4 from everywhere. The only time the RS4 pulls from my 968 is third gear pulls. Above 120 though the 968 owns the RS4, and 1-2nd its dead even. Oh did I mention I have cruised at GPS clocked 168mph in the 968 :) . I am telling you, its something that everyone should get an experience in. It has the torque of an M3, the styling of a Porsche, and the exoticness of a 911.
As to the RS4 - same can be said. The styling is very low-key, such as there are very few people that can tell the difference. In all honesty, it doesn't feel that much quicker than a standard S4. You can notice it when in sport mode, but dollar for dollar you could have a faster S4 for the price of an RS4. The upsides are you get the better suspension, better torque bias, and...oh some 8250 rpms. The best part of the RS4 other than it gets a mere 10mpg, is there is so much torque from all RPMs its not even funny. It pulls as hard from 1500rpms as it does from 5000 rpms. Very linear, predictable, and fun. Still drives like an AWD though, which unfortunately you cant do without being that it IS awd.
Thanks for the compliments guys - one thing you will notice if you ever venture over between Porsche and BMW boards is people in the BMW community value and look up to other cars....the Porsche world; you are the ONE and ONLY!

Wow I am really surprised about the two cars being dead even 1-2nd gear.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

So is your girlfriends Daddy happy that you're now posting pictures of his other cars?
You already had him sucked into "destroying" the "Bubble" E30 M3.... whats next? Trying to convince him that the new Beetle can be made as fast as a 997?
Stop trying to swing an e-dick by posting photos of your "significant" others fathers toys.Below the radar...Comment

In fact we did not destroy the bubble car, that was the following owner. We put an engine in the car, added shocks and springs, and sold it for almost what we had into it. The following owner destroyed the car at Willow Springs or something of that nature! Furthermore, the 968 is titled to me, paid for by me, and in my name. Second, the RS4 is titled in my fiances name, have no ties to her father. If you would like for me to post pictures of my title in my name I will be glad to, or be with any of the cars with my dick hanging out!
As to the new beetle being as fast as a 997, are you kidding. 600hp, or about 521whp going through AWD! http://www.hpamotorsports.com/projec...RSi-Beetle.htm Man, for real get a life. Envy is the worst sin that can be committed.
If I wanted to post swing an e-dick with his cars, I would post hundreds of better cars. My lowly 170k mile 968 and 325i are worth a third of his cheapest car. Every modification was purchased, installed, and driven by me.
You know what the best part is - Ed and Gary (previous owner of the bubble car that we 'destroyed') still talk on a daily basis, and trade cars every so often. The only people offended by what we did to that E30 M3 were purist on S14.net, not a single other person cared. The second fact that we sold it for damn near what we invested in 72 hrs, money wired, car shipped should say something as well.
Thanks and come again! You may think you know something, but in all honesty you don't. I figured the guys may want to see something else other than the typical E30 so I posted them up. I drive the RS4 on a daily basis, 968 stays in my garage, and the 325i is my other gig.
Thanks, I'll be sure to crack on every one of your posts!
To those who aren't pessimists, the RS4 and the 68' both have very first short gears, to the point where they stay the same. Of course from a standstill or in the rain it would be no comparison, but 1-3rd are very close with the RS4 pulling me hard in its 3rd gear. The RS4 feels 100% better though from every RPM range!Comment

Some more pictures - Me when I am buying my 968 from the PO in Georgia, fiance's fathers cars to compare with, and the E30 M3 that Chris so blatently put out on the table. You can decipher if my 170k mile 968 would be me swinging an 'e-dick'!

There is a starch difference!

nice shots Wes, I have tons-o-stuff for your e30 laying around, something to get rid of the bottle caps you say?

I'm just giving you a world of shit Wes.
I didn't get all worked up over the "bubble" car... at least it got an S14 in its engine bay. ;) I'm just stirring the pot... Sorry, that was certainly a bit rude and uncalled for.
Congrats on the 968. Not something I'd ever own myself, admitedly because I know nothing about Pcars other than early 911's. I have to say though, I laughed when I saw the neg. camber shot.
I have no envy of your/Gary/Ed/Your girlfriends cars.... I'm content in my own little world with my humble possessions. Right now I have greater aspirations than collecting a stable full of exotics. Maybe later in life???

Quite possibly we can work out something! Bottle caps have to go, but budget is straining right now, anniversary, x-mas recovery, valentines, etc... Just quite old job as well and am starting new one in Winston on Tuesday!
I was about 30 seconds away from buying the Unimog but just financially couldn't swing a $10,000 useless tool. He may still have it for sale, but after selling me the 968 he won't return my phone calls. Apparently there were a few things he left for me to do! The picture I posted was old, all the cars there are sold. It was an RS America, 1003 miles since new. Polar Silver over black and red factory cloth, M030, 220LSD, etc... Very rare car. Current collection is very small, turbo-look cabriolet, E30 M3 race car, Caterham Fire Blade and Seven, and I guess a few more that I haven't seen lately. I don't think you've ever hung out over there, might be worth your time sometime ;) .

Chris,
Very humble reply - I understand that I caused a ton of commotion on S14.net, and thus I don't visit any more. There were angry people who had never even seen the car, valued what was done, or anything, but just viewed it as the 12k mile E30 M3. The fact that since then many lower mileage, better condition cars have come for sale.
I knew nothing about 968's or Porsches in general when I bought it. I wanted a 944 Turbo, but about 2 weeks before I pulled the trigger on one my friend blew his engine from oil starvation (fairly typical) which made me look to the more reliable younger brother. If you know anything about E36 M3's, the 968 is even easier. One thing Porsche does that BMW should is they put all the workshop manuals and catalogs online available for everyone - on top of that they are all built in house by Porsche (all the parts I mean), so everything is rebuildable from transmissions to water pumps. Completely different from BMW.
