A good friend of mine lays carbon fiber as a side job, and he has everything from the fake wrap to kevlar.

I dont mean to burst your bubble, but its fake overlay. You can even see the seem in the first picture.

EDIT: after looking at it again, it may be very poorly laid real carbon fiber, but i highly doubt that.

It might look fake because most people see the same type of weave over and over again on hoods and such, but they do come in different patterns sometimes.

For instance I once saw a very boxy,tight weave on a Lamborghini Diablo's spoiler and splitter, unlike the usual rectangular type.

mazur- that very well could be the case, and ive seen plenty of pics of real cf that looked way fake. But this one i can almost put money on from the pictures that its fake.

I don't know a single sanctioning body that would accept that thing and allow it to go through Tech inspection.

It also looks like a poorly wrapped cover of fake CF. Even more likely since you claim the wheel is heavy as if its "covering" an inner core.

Yes I am going to track the car. I have another wheel available to go on it if need be.

As for the real/fake argument - I can tell you it has a small gash in it on the underside - it exposes the woven material a bit.

If anyone wants to come inspect it in person - PM me and I'll give you my freaking address.
